Braid. Is it just me that hates the stuff?

Davy, you should have said. There are easier ways of proving you can do the undo-able! You could have dropped your weight before your anchor, then drifted back a bit, dropped the anchor, let out dead on 400 ft of anchor rope, then taken a quick photo. That way, you could have proved two thoeries wrong at the same time, albeit for a very short period of time.

 

Did you hear the one about Alan Yates and a 500lb Common caught on a fly rod? If you want to know anything about Skate, ask Alan. He knows mate, I read about it in sea angler!

Is braid any good?

If a waste of money, and screws up your fishing time! Might be ok uptiding with in 300 feet of water

for 160lbs of skate.

Has anyone mentioned bedding in yet?

160 lbs in a tide with braid on your reel, get real!

They were the skippers reels. And one of the little screws got dropped over the side ( Apparently the anglers came from Weston super mare. Wherever that is.

Not that I read it,        I was told that Stevie Souter did an article in SA ,on bedding in braid, I think in this months...      

But to be honest,never had a problem with the braid bedding in ....load it up on top of mono....(thats all its good for) and make sure its loaded up under a wee bit of strain...

The first one was a one off but the second one, We and almost every other boat that fishes up there do that every trip.. so it aint only me that can do the un do able

 

You dont need much more than 410' of rope to anchor in 400'

That's nothing.. I know a guy that catches them to 800lb on a 1m whip, he also knows a cave that is home to a killer Panther.. so there
