When they were all in, the skipper and his crewman cast out for them again, but this time took their Abu spanners and removed the handles from all the reels!  When the rods started nodding, they put the handles back on and let the party reel in their Cod!  That is a true story.

Bo!!ocks with a capital B :D
 I've heard this story from a couple of skippers and they both claim it was them. Perhaps it's more common than we think, anglers not listening I mean. :D

Steve calm down mate it's only fishing :)

You are still relating everything I have said to what you are used to in the Thames estuary.. try thinking out the box for a change. :)

In normal up tiding conditions you get a tide flow the full depth of the water you fish. Where I was fishing as Shaun has already said we only had a tide flow for the top 50 odd feet of water. As I said one of my first posts I had cast when there was almost no tide flow, just before the tide started to push through. So as the weight was sinking there was still very little tide. Hence the reason I *KNOW* the weight was up tide of the boat. The Tide push came just about when the weight hit bottom, which is when I let out the belly of line to make sure the grip lead held bottom.

Ok it aint quite "proper" up tiding but it still is up tiding in 400'

Oh and btw I don't have super natural powers.. it's just skill.. pure skill :D

I still want to know who the skipper is that takes the handles of his angler's reels and stays in the boat having done so. Also want to know what village the anglers came from that tried jigging a bait cast uptide twice after being told not to do so and why!

And when he and his crewman replaced the handles did they put the little screw and plate, that holds the main nut in place, back as well
