Outlook HOT!

Whatever happened to the Great British Summer consisting of 3 warm days and a thunderstorm.

All the weather sites are now forcasting continued hot weather right through next week with further chances of records being broken.

Maybe some thunder storms on Thursday.

The rain that we have had keeps passing my corner of Kent by.

Not good for my garden.

'Desertification' is beginning to become a word of more than a theoritical interest :(

It's proving to be a good year for lawns - I've only had to cut mine three times thus far. It's turning nicely brown at present; one more cut might see it through to the autumn.

A downside of hot weather being combined with school holidays is the wholesale emergence of "yoofs" who elect to swim where they're not allowed, and leave heaps of rubbish when they eventually depart. Anyone who has the temerity to remonstrate with them is rewarded with a mouthful of abuse and an accompany risk of reprisal vandalism on their parked car.

I'd rather suffer cormorants....

we just had a decent downpour in somerset, eric the fish is a lot happier now ( his gulley is rainfed ) now the sun is out. Leon, being in one of the driest counties, you might be interested in the rainwater recovery system bradfords ( our local chain of builders merchants ) are advertising. its a tank, buried in the ground, that collects your rainwater, filters it & supplies the bog & washing machine cold feeds, when it runs out, it automatically switches back to mains supply. fantastic if you are on a water meter. I'm getting one for my new project, the british legion hall.

Can you imagine what it would be like to live where the sea temps during summer were in the 30-32º range?

You sure do sound like Newt. We have had some much rain recently that you can open the front door and "hear" the grass growing. Problem is enough time between rain to get out there with the mower.

You live in Kent, Leon. I think that you technically already live in a desert.

I agree elton who the hell want to be cold all the time :sun:

Ahh! but thats the thing about 'global warming'. Its a daft moniker really. You might not be so perky when we eventually get another 1947 or 1963 type winter.

Yup. Unfortunately I can also imagine such seas to be infested with large numbers of Nobby Clark's too.

Quite right Newt. No point in cutting the stuff it whilst it is wet.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Did you see the state of the golf course at Hoylake???

Strangely our lawn refuses to brown, even over by the neighbour's eucalyptus. Never been watered, but green as a very green thing.

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.
