For fishing the above method, my preferred keepnet would be the old fashioned bell tent type with good strong knotted mesh and no longer than about 6ft for ease of chucking in when full and hauling out when having a look

I reckon I need a good strong knotted one as Brian says, and I think I'll stick a couple of bricks in it so I can chuck it out easily.

 

Re the leadcore, I was thinking of adding a snap tackle to it as well in case I want to do some piking. Little barbel make good baits don't they?

 

I've only got 4lb mainline but I expect that'll be OK.

Anderoo you are being extremely silly.......there is no way that you could fish an illegally imported then transported carp live bait (erm hooked through the eyes of course) on that sort of tackle without the unprepared nuts in its belly swelling and bursting its gut!

 

All this talk of what keepnet to use? are you some kind of Noddy (or are you an illegal imigrant?) the best method for retaining still water barbel (to keep them fresh before you smash them on the head to take them home at the end of the day to stuff and put in a glass case) is just to leave them in the water on the gaff you have used to land them.....

 

Now stop smoking that strange tobacco you grew from a jar of "Frenzied Hemp" (or have you progressed on to main lining "Monster Crab"?) and grow up!
