Well, short of a total meltdown in the Labour Party followed by a snap general election, the next PM will be a Labour politician and they will be top dog until the tories and the liberals get there shot at the title something like 18 months down the line.

Charles Clarke might be a bit of a prat but he is starting to expose the chinks in Gordon Brown's armour and I for one dearly hope that we see an active electoral process to detirmine the next PM/leader of the Labour Party rather than some sort of dynastic transfer of power to Brown.

My problem with Brown largely comes down to the fact that I can't recall ever hearing him make a speach or express a significant opinion about any subject other than the business of his ministry and if Tony wont trust him to do that, why should the rest of the party trust him to lead the country ?

Now maybe this non-speech thing is just in his favour  If he hasn't said anything you can't really find fault with him, can't accuse him of being a warmonger or the like, quite crafty when you think about it.:)

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

Well from the looks of his Tonius BLIAR, he thinks that this country is Lucky to have him as PM.

(Mind you he is more out of this country than in, especially if there is trouble)

He and Brown think it is a done deal, but if you look at what Brown has done TO this country, I think we would be in real strife to vote HIM in!!

Conservatives???? NAH!!!

Lib-Dems???? Nah!!

UKIP???? not enough candidates!

All the Others??? Ditto!!

I don't think I CAN vote for somebody I want this time!!

Come the next election I'll probably be voting Con for the first time in my life, unless Lab come up with a leader that really grabs the attention.

the backstabbing is already starting by the labour MP's ,for the job of prime minister by default

Very true Chesters.

Does anyone remember a book called "Being There" ? - which I believe was made into a film staring Peter Sellers.

It was about a complete nincompoop who lurked in the political shadows - never said anything - so never upset anyone - just looked profound and occasionally smiled and nodded.

He rose through the political ranks by virtue of this, coupled with an amazing series of coincidences that meant him being at the right places at the right times. Never did or said anything.

Finished up as President of the USA

Now which non-entity in the ranks of UK politicians best meets this description?

An ineffectual former Environment minister now pursuing an absolutely dynamic  stint as Foreign Secretary?

Stranger things have happened.

Very true Vags, pre Blair/Brown Mrs Caravan was only one election & one heart attack away from being PM.

Yup, if Major had called an election before Smith popped his clogs we would have had another female PM, methinks this could have made quite a difference to the country today?

Odds? 40/1, hmm looks good for a punt.......

Jealousy: totally irrational anger directed at people who happen to be richer, prettier, thinner, cleverer and more successful than you are.
