Steve who wrote the article I aren't sure but it should have .read where the scallopers have been working it was once alive with cod now there ain't any which is more or less 110% correct .

This has gone on long enough .

no it hasn't gone on long enough, what is missing is fact and evidence of scalloping operations crushing all these rocky reefs into pool tables. As Steven has intimated the scallop grounds are well known, what isn't is the assumption you make that the scallopers target the reefs, so where's the facts on that one? Yet another anecdotal assuming link you provide that gives no evidence to back up your claim of all this destruction. Instead of toeing TAT's line of insisting you want the fishery to yourself, why don't you advocate something like this as opposed to getting rid of some other commercial enterprise where local coastal communities rely on the incomes. Post up your evidence on the fishing news page if you are so sure.

Tell us what campaign you had a year or two ago with regards to another sector of the commercial industry you had a downer on because you claimed at the time it was destroying the cod fishing.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

go for the ball not the player this time, counter this quote with some facts:

He insisted that the government’s move was not a response to Hugh’s Fish Fight, which he attacked for over-simplifying and over-dramatising the problem. The programme was deliberately trying to manipulate public opinion and was “beyond credibility”, he said.

“Scalloping only utilises a very small part of the seabed with vessels consistently fishing the same areas decade after decade. To imply that the scallop sector causes wide scale damage is both disingenuous and disproportionate.”

John Hermse, from the Scallop Association based in Elgin, accused opponents of employing “emotive dogma” to make “ludicrous claims” about the industry. “Scallop beds are more affected by the tides and the motion of the sea than the boats fishing them,” he said.

“Scallops are the ultimate fast food. They are easy to cook, delicious and nutritious and it is high time it was acknowledged and appreciated that they have the sustainability credentials to match.”

The industry body, Seafish, pointed out that scallop fishing supported 1,150 Scottish jobs. “It is important that we do not lose sight of the importance of the industry to Scotland’s economically fragile coastal communities,” said its chief executive, Dr Paul Williams.

Now now Paul, put the dummy back in, these debates are always enlightening.....and as always google is your friend regarding who said what pretty much anywhere at any time, these are very bad times to try and mislead any forum :g:

I amusingly remember debates on the Whitby forum not too long ago regarding marine protection where in between the embarrassing nonsense celebration turned to despair when someone pointed out reality and it dawned on people that it could ultimately affect everyone, including anglers. Nothing has changed in that respect apart from a large part of the positive economic benefit argument has now been removed from the equation making any potential implementation much easier.

Google is interesting Paul, it brings up years of your claims and concerns despite all of your protestations to the contrary.

I have no idea if it is a mistake or not, although history suggests that knee jerk reactions are rarely as effective as well thought out proactive actions, time will tell.

I am a long term kinda guy, short termism does little for me.
