get it here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

and it's grrrrrrrreat!

But just to make it even faster than IE (which it is already) try the following tweaks:

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll

down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.

When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really

speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This

means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.

Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".

This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

enjoy!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Cheers Jeeps, it was the quotation marks that was causing the problem. I've left them out & am now flying round the web at a rate of knots feeling like a whizz kid again :rolleyes:

Excellent stuff. I've finally come over to Firefox properly as I really don't like IE7.

As the default in firefox is to make single requests, is there any downside to this amendment?

Thanks

You do realise that DAP contains spyware in both the free and paid versions.

Flashget is miles better and no spyware

Well I upgraded from Firefox 1.5 to 2.0 and have had a couple of annoying problems, so I am back on IE for now.

1) Where is the fabled new spell checker in v 2.0? I couldn't find it anywhere. It doesn't even seem to appear in the help.

2) When I click on links, in Anglers Net for example, they no longer automatically open a new page. They do in IE and in Firefox 1.5.

So can anyone help please with these two issues I have encountered so far?
