These are pics of the stormy seas I took last Friday. The gazette phoned up and asked if they could make use of them on their website.

Nice shots Glenn. Does look to be a little choppy out there.

The way the swell grew last friday morning was unbelievable to say the least, 4 crab potting boats sailed out of whitby harbour at 5 am with just slight swell in the water but by 8 am the amount of swell that had grown in just a short time was quite amaizing there had been a northely gale of force 10 +up of aberdeen and pushed the swell down at an alarming rate the speed the sea turned into something very nasty shocked even the hardest of fishermen with which some have been commercial fishing for over 50 years couldnt believe sheer size of the sea in such a short time.

Guest challenge

For those in peril on the sea.

Or is it for those in peril on there pc?

Its nights like this that brings it all home.

You know that out there somewhere there will be fishermen dodging weather waiting for a break so they can get there gear in the water and there will be boats on standby duty dodging the weather.

There is nothing more frustrating at sea than having to dodge in poor weather, especially in small boats.

I wonder how many of them will be worrying about golden miles tonight?

Had a brief walk along Whitley Bay sea front this afternoon. The sea was very choppy, certainly not small boat weather!!!
