hi folks,

its holiday time again, or at least time for me to book mine...

thinking about the isle of wight this year, never been so i have no idea what it is like apart from diabolos's description that it is full of "wierdy beardys"

im still chasing that illusive 5lb+ bass.

can anyone recommend areas for bassing from the shore either with baits or lures and any info about the availability of boats would be appreciated, any self drive available??

the place i am looking at to stay is the gurnard pines holiday park at cowes

if you aren't comfortable posting sensitive info on this thread, please email or PM me

BTW, i'm looking at the 1st 2 weeks in july

Plenty of bassing all around the Island but no self-drive boats that I am aware of. The Solent is a very busy place and has tricky tides plus ferries, tankers and container ships so you would need to be experienced with boats to be safe. Charter boats operate out of Yarmouth, Lymington (a short ferry ride from Yarmouth) and a few from Bembridge. Good bassing from the shore though, evenings and early morning best.

Happy Dude why not try Drummore for your 5lb+ bass attempt. You may even pick up a 50lb+ tope as a bonus

hi snatcher,

i'll be down at luce bay a couple of times this summer hopefully,

not too bothered with 50lb tope as i have had several over that size up to 70lb+ when i used to fish the bay every other weekend about 15-20 years ago.

maybe see you in the ship one night.....

I should probably take this opportunity to apologise to dyed-in-the-wool IO-Wighties, and sandalised Beardies Rod Whitewood, Alan Bravery, Richard Russell & George Bernowicz. These are smashing guys would probably be allowed to work with children.

Sorrrrrrrrry lads!
