£414,000,000 and who pays the bill ??

If I was born and bred in Scotland I would be bitterly disappointed with such mismanagement.

What is the cost per head of population? or better still per head to sit bums on a seat to decide what is best for Scotland.

I just don't understand it, a warehouse would have served the purpose just as well to house so much hot air.

When will we all learn the waste politicians can create.

White Paper published shortly after Labour's 1997 general election victory initially put the construction cost of a Scottish Parliament building at between £10m and £40m.

whos been sacked for this clanger ,i bet none!

strange there was no fining in the quote for building delays ,whoever signed the contract MUST be getting a swiss bank account nicely filled never mind the huge overspend.

i hate this building, i mean its disghusting, why do we need such an expensive building to decide scotlands political agendas, if i had my way i would put them in some community hall im sure that 414m could put right more than half the stuff they talk about in there

It seems it was a bit of a DIY job, the politicians took over the management :lol: that would be a disaster any where in the UK.

As stated by Andy the money could have been put to far better use but the pompous pratts had to have a throne befitting their status and s*d all the other poor b**gers who need help.

What amazes me is that anyone thought that you could construct and fit out an architect-designed, purpose built building for less than £100m. As Ken says the subsequent overrun(s) were to be expected when the politicians got involved in making operational decisions, as can be seen south of the border with the Wembley project.

I would like to know who dreams up these proposed cost in the first place, 10% contingency fund seems to have gone out the window where politicians are concerned.

Of cause I forgot they are not spending their money, I guess when your spending public funds it dosen't really matter how much you waste.
