I sent my slosh 30 to daiwa to get sorted (it's been playing up a bit), and got a phone call today from them telling me it will cost £89 to fix it...£89 !!!

Can anyone explain how a £60 reel can cost £89 to fix ?

I'll get someone local to have a look at it, and if it can't be fixed, guess what I'll replace it with......yeah....anything but a daiwa.

Greedy b**t***s !

Please warn your colleagues not to use daiwa service if they need a reel looking at !

£89.....crooks.

bleedin' crabs.

That is horrifying! It really shocks me of Daiwa as I use their gear and have never had any complaints.

Last year they did a full factory re-build on an awb129 for us for £40!

For them to want that amount of money to repair your reel is a joke, I wouldn't blame you for boycotting them in the future.

:clap2: Yes it does seem strange to pay more for service/repairs than the price of the reel but if you were to buy all the bits to build a reel yourself they would cost more than the price of the reel. Plus you're paying UK labour rates, not far eastern, carriage on top of that, it all adds up. When I phoned to ask for a new bearing for my LD20/2 Speed they sent it FOC. So under the circumstances I would have thought they'd of offered you a new reel for £60. :clap2:

they are definate rip of merchants ,i bought a pair of sensitron bite indicators and when it rained hard they litterally filled with water unfortunately i only had that pair so they dried out each trip in the airing cupboard untill i got fed up and sent them back.

unfortunately by this time the garauntee had ran out but i bundled them off anyway ,weeks later they came back with the bill ,had they waterproofed the things case ......no

had they water proofed the electronics .......no

had they sent 2 mark 2 waterproof ones ......no

they charged me £30 to drill 2 FFFFING holes in the bottom of each one to let the water out!!!! as you can amagine i was NOT happy with Daiwa

What's actually wrong with your slosh? I find the bearing at the base of the handle gets wet and rusts, the result is a graunchy reel.

:clap2: I serviced one for a mate recently and the big bearing was siezed onto the shaft due to a complete lack of oil over about 5 years. I replaced the bearing, gave it a drop of oil and grease and it's fine. :clap2:
