No arguements please about the weights!

edit note: I have posted smaller versions to make life easier on members with slow connections and left the tinypic links to the originals. Nice fish.

10lb. I was surprised about how light this was, it fought like a monster. Lovely fish though.

18lb, my biggest to date. Caught last year.

Many thanks to RussellF. Since going out for a night's fishing with him last year I have stopped using trebles completely and use only a single hook. I've not lost a fish because of that switch yet, however it has made unhooking so much quicker and easier.

Nice fish - the photos are a bit too big though.

Interesting to hear about your success with singles. Are you fishing any differently (leaving a run for longer, or less long, etc.) in any other ways too? Deadbait or livebait? And how are you hooking the baits? Oh, and how big are the hooks? Oh yes(!), and what pattern are they?

Good pics mate

I never use snap tackles and have been using singles with mackerel fillets for a while now with quite a bit of success.

I have also hair rigged baits a la Mick Brown..great for long distance work as the bait is 'locked on'...haven't had much luck with that setup yet though.

Alas, if only I were computer savvy enough to know how to reduce the size of the photos. I just uploaded them onto Tinypic and copied the img /img bit that it gives. Oooh, I've just noticed that Newt has done it for me - many thanks :clap2:

As for the method, floatfished livebaiting, bait fish hooked through the top lip only with a Size 4(I think) sea hook. Not leaving the run any longer or setting up any differently from how I would have done using 2 trebles or a single treble. Added bonus is that if the session is unsuccessful I can release the bait fish with little damage done to it.

I'm hoping for a nice evening tomorrow as I really want to take one of my kids and help them to catch their first jack/large perch.

For almost all my photo editing I use a free utility called Irfanview. Google for it and you can find a number of download sites.

Most of what I do is simple stuff such as cropping to remove unwanted bits, resizing, and on occasion adding some text. All are dead easy to do with this program and uploading the resulting photo is quicker since the size will be smaller.

If I need fancy, I ask my Mrs to fire up her photoshop CS (never learned to use that one - powerful but complicated) and do the tweaks.

Hi Newt, me being a computer dork, i tried sending a distance photo of a basking shark but the photo size was massive. I thought it was the camera and wanted to chuck it after spending time trying to shrink it. I will try loading the free utility, but if i can't get me head around some simple instructions can you shrink it on site please? What is the size of photo that is best sent over the net? Move this if it is too off topic.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
