John Wilson....

Er, um, well if you don't think that you are never mind, but I am - far better probably. No doubt about it really...

You're far better than John Wilson? That'll be the same John Wilson that was voted 'Greatest Angler Of All Time, Like Ever...'?

Blimey, you're a bit good then. Far better than Matty, too, you say? And only a part-timer as well - that's amazing. I bet you could teach that Terry Hearn bloke a bit about catching carp, eh?

Layzungemmun, we have an angling god among us. :clap2:

Either that, or....

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

I almost replied in similar vein, but assumed that Frummo was joking and had simply omitted a smiley. Now I'm not so sure!

Throughout history there have been many anglers who thought they were better than the experts of the day. Just possibly on their local waters they may be. But overall they're likely to be as far behing the experts in fishing as they are Ronnie O'Sullivan at snooker!

The simple reason that these stars are given the opportunies in the first place is that they have a track record of consistently catching fish. The TV and video companies simply wouldn't be prepared to risk money on those without such a proven record.

I've been lucky enough to fish with many top anglers over the years. Almost 20 years ago one of these stood out, despite being younger than the rest of us. He now presents his own tV programme.

His name? Matt Hayes!

Steve - even that is most likely not true. The professional angling tours in the states (Bass, Walleye, Crappie) have anglers from all over the country fishing comps on a lake. Quite often at least one or two of them have that as their local but rarely ever do they win even if they have a good overall record and win on lakes that are new to them.

Just some wannabe, mate. Runs a carp puddle down Kent way - dreadful place, not my sort of venue at all.

To be fair to him, though, I'm willing to check out the place a few hundred times, just to make sure I don't like it, see?

I've fished in the States - well, mainly Canada, which is the same thing, obviously. Anyway, see all of those angling pros over there? I'm better than them. You should see what I can do with a jelly worm. <_<

Interesting! I suspect that may be because the standard of these pros is so high.
