Its feeling a bit like some games on xbox/ps4 where addons cist a fortune.

 

Halo for example i noticed me and my nephew have racked up about 50,000 credits by playing missions and challenges you can use it to buy helmets and stuff to jazz up your character. Helmets cost like a million credits. We have had the game many many years now. Of course you can still buy the helmet with real money (£2 i believe) i still refuse to pay that though. Some games are now taking that model.to extremes were if you dont get the extras you have an incredibly crap game experience and get pwned every time

Found some flaw though but not looked hard to find the answer ,on photos for example it has picked a microsoft app ,on trying to change the opening program i want to display photos there only the existing app or a link to the app store how do i choose an already installed program such as my elderly but well understood paint shop pro 8 ?

The old right click "open with" and choose default program isnt there

I give up with Cortana. I don't have a smart phone so I won't miss it. I tried all the suggestions except editing the registry, which I don't want to do. Even set up a Microsoft account as asked but it still says it is not available in uk

It popped as soon as i used search but perhaps my pc is set up as american english i havnt checked ,it was 1.38 this morning by the time it installed !

open control panel and then Default Programs: slightly different set up win 8 and 7.

but youll see a list of software down the left hand column; just pick your photo browser of choice and click the blue hyperlink at the bottom to set it as the default reader.

there is a known bug where you cant change the default though; whether MS will patch it out or not remains to be seen:

A bug, are you sure it was really a bug and not a cleverly thought out tactic to get people on the app store.

the photo app is built in!

no need to purchase it or goto the store in any way shape or form!

its just annoying that its set as the default viewer and it can be a bugger to change.

 

on a huge positive note though...windows 10 has a default OBJ viewer designed to export direct to 3d printers...was utterly surprised when I double clicked one of 3d sword models and it opened perfectly in a native app and would have enabled me to 3d print it! pretty awesome!

this is the app; but I never downloaded it...unless it did it seamlessly when it found OBJ files on my hdd...but I doubt it
