I have done it too. That picture of the two small Cod quite simply illustrates that trwalers will take anything they can catch to earn a few quid!!! In the long term they will not only lose there own living but destroy sea life in general.

Personally I think a 2-3 month fishing ban should be put in place, they are doing this in Australia and it seems to be working.

Apart from that Merry Christmas to one and all santa

Keep it reel!!

I just got a reply -

Marine protected areas are a key tool to protect vulnerable marine

ecosystems and have a part to play in fisheries management. Defra is

currently preparing regulations to extend the Habitats and Birds

Directives offshore. This will provide for the designation of sites for

species of European importance. We have already identified the Darwin

Mounds as a candidate site and, through the Common Fisheries Policy

(CFP), the EU has introduced measures to protect the site from damaging

fishing activities.

blah blah blah

jeepster:

but siding with those who would see angling abolished would seem to be counter productive.....

Won't need to worry who wants to abolish angling once the 'kin fish have gone!

Alive without breath,

As cold as death;

Never thirsty, ever drinking,

All in mail never clinking.

I`ll just get me rod!!!
