what pays your bills?

Magazine editor me. Caravans and motorhomes, with tents, trailer tents and folding campers during th warmer months. Mainly within the used market though, so I don't get to cover new model launches on the Continent, or to take gleaming new models out on extended tests like some of the others in my office. I seem to get sent loads of free torches though.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

An ex-biologist, turned software developer. I run the IT for a small company which provides specialist data services over the Internet to the financial services industry. We facilitate the flow of information between companies generating investment vehicles and companies buying and selling them, for a particular kind of security. I'm responsible for the whole thing, from network cabling to software architecture, but I'm only really interested in the programming side of things; the other stuff is a necessary evil. I mostly work from home, travelling the 130 miles to the office once or twice a month.

i just wondred what some of you guys and girls do during the week to pay for your fishing. I would expect some who work ing fishing shops and a hefty chunk of builders/decorators for some reason.

Just curious Darren, what makes you think that?

Me

I am a Senior Buyer with TfL, which means most of my fishing is confined to weekends; but it pays enough for a tropical trip once a year.

what makes me think there are a few who work in takle shops? or that we will have a few builders??

i used to be into another hobby (Nitro R/C cars) and there were LOADS of builder types who were also very into their fishing. and i suppose they do a lot of manual work all week so a weekend of sitting next to a calm lake probably appeals. maybe its a bad stereotype hehe.

Well I'm a scientist for a pharmaceutical company. Best description is that I'm a sort of biochemist. Currently under threat of redundancy though as we are going through a 'slimming down' process so who knows, I could soon be doing a fair bit more fishing and shooting.
