Don't get excited - its a tree. A Yew thought to be Britian's oldest living tree seems to be changing from male to female

Lots of organisms do that - have a look at the wrasse family, although they manage it a bit faster than taking 5000 years

Not to mention Clown Fish, Sword-tails and Black Mollies. My favourites are the Lesbian Lizards of Cochise County. They truly are the creationist's nightmare.

According to the article, this change may have happened to this tree quite a few times over its lifetime. The male->female->male changes may add to a Yew's lifespan.
