Medium Boat Reel ?

yes indeed you old skinflint $45 is only 20 odd quid anyway, if a levelwind is now not an essential then take a serious look at a slosh 20or 30 , depending on how big a reel you want, take my word for it this reel is what you want, rugged, good drag, even though it is a star, and plenty of power also doubles up brilliantly as a one of the best rough ground beach reels around. I have 2 one of which I have had since they first came out and it is still going strong.

TLD 5 or 10 also a great reel that has stood the test of time.

:clap2: The Daiwa SL20SH is a great reel for light/medium boat and rough ground shore fishing, the SL30SH is the same but with a wider spool for greater line capacity. The upmarket version is the SL20/30VX or something, I have one of these too and it does everything the slosh does but better. :clap2:

Or this one,..from the same seller...great Toping reel due to it being small, light, and the very fast retrieve,....I had one, but it got lost over the side :(

:D I've got the TSM in bits in a box, stripped it down and couldn't get a bit for it, I might send it off to Felindra to get it serviced, worth a try as it's worth money. What's my TLD 10 worth then Norrie? :clap2:

Hi Norm,...Probs just a little bit less than a TLD 5, tho that last one was a total bargain...£55 !!!! ....they are superb reels, usually going for up to £80...:):)

But, as at all auctions, if you get two folks that want it....the sky is the limit...;)

Thanks for those reassuring words :D now all I have to do is sneak it past Debbie when it arrives

I will take the mono of and load it with braid, use a lot of that hi-vis yellow now for my boat reels as you can see the line better and avoid a lot of tangles. Now I have a 10lb to 20lb setup what breaking strain line would you use ? Was thinking in terms of 20lb to 25lb.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

Hi Ken, Well , as Braid is so thin, on my 12lb gear,. I actually went up to 40lb BS braid..even at that its wayy thinner ( as you well know) than mono, and gives you much better abbrassion resistance...and is handy just in case a biggy shows up...:)

On my TLD 15, I have 50lb Powerpro....and never had a problem....BUT, you must remember I generally fish ( I think anyway) in much deeper water than yourself...:) Tho, I can still use a 5oz weight in 400 foot of water, and hold bottom...when the tide allows..;)

It wont get you, or me, any IGFA prizes tho'...:):)
