Anyone getting any enjoyable fishing inn ?

I'm curious if anyone is actually doing any productive and enjoyable fishing as the weather round here (Wigan, Lancashire) is just constant rain ?

On Tuesday I was that desperate to wet a line I tried a spot of trotting on the local small river but the water was up by several feet was full of floating debris and was that full of silt it looked like a mud slide. It also smelled just like raw sewage and it made me wonder how on earth any fish could survive in such conditions. It's Pi**ing down even as I speak / type and the garden is like a watering hole in Africa !

Depressing or what ?

Anyone having any luck ?

No better here in the South I am thinking of going to a local commercial water, which has been producing a number of good Perch recently, just to wet a line.

I'm itching to get out, but then I venture out of the door and it totally puts me off. I've kind of resigned myself to getting some work done for the next couple of weeks and making the most of it when things dry out a bit.

There's no chance of getting to a river for the next week and a half at least. I did manage a day's stillwater piking last weekend but I won't be out this weekend. After that though I've got quite a few trips planned to various far-flung places which I'm looking forward to. I really glad I managed some chubbing a few weeks ago before all this happened again.

At least the high water levels in our local small river should be cleaning out or creating some good undercuts again this year (like last year did, I hope).

I'll probably end up fishing one of the clubs still waters this weekend.

The rivers may be out of sorts, although I have done well in floods with species like roach. However, I wouldn't go to an area I didn't know for safety reasons.

As some of you will have seen, a friend and I have had some great sport with pike on one of my gravel pits at Wingham. See http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Grand-D...d33-t80704.html

If it's not raining on hard on Sunday we'll probably go again. If it is (I've never done well with big pike then), we'll probably switch to the Coarse Lake. Another friend had a 2-12 perch there last weekend.

Steve (and onyone else!), how wopuld you fish a flooded river for roach? I've heard people say these conditions can be good for them if you know what you're doing - I was talking about this to someone just last weekend.

So the old perch are still feeding at Wingham are they?
