So technology shows what was already  known

As for the decline the EA want them to go or

A they wouldnt give licences to harvest elvers

And

B dont get those without licences catching them punished enough to stop ,simply making every elver caught an seperate offence rather than the total amount as one offence found on criminals should do it . If catching a bucket of elvers is a fine of £X then see how a fine of thousands of seperate £X for each one is ! That would do it! I the fine was ring fenced to pay the EA to actually do something rather than bugger up rivers it could get them working rather than the chiefs sitting in their homes waiting for something to do.

Its crazy the EA licences people to catch rare (today) eels to sell to foreigners !?!

C and stop ****ing taking the fish from my ****ing river to give to other ****ing people ! I pay for a licence aswell

In 1938 I was 4 years old. As a reward for learning to read I was given a four volume encyclopedia published in 1936. It contained  a more comprehensive description of the eel's life cycle than the article quoted.   

That is nothing compared with the rubbish plagiarised about the spined loach in almost every "field guide"

Blimey do they live in fields perhaps they are rare because obese anglers like myself squash them going to the river! I did find a trout in the field once perhaps it was visiting a loach?
, it's strange how knowledge is overlooked by 'researchers' if its not in the first three bits in google thats it .And history buffs just use hearsay if thats faulty (like concocted  results from amatuer victorian historians ) then their spoutings are faulty.

There was a bit in the local mag about the bridge when it was being restored (even the farnham herald repeated it ) about an "unknown arch " being found which was silted up ,all they had to do was read Bridges of the river Wey and there it was ! (Or look hard )

Someone spotted the strangeness of the bridge and puzzled over it ,what had happened was the "unknown arch" had silted up when the river had changed course (theres only flow in the "unknown arch" in floods as all the flow goes through the new one and the one next to it) and to make up for it long in the past someone added a new one at the other end as ofcourse the river tried to go round that end at there wasnt enough arches to handle the flow .I wonder how they get jobs i presume that those that employ them are just as thick?! Rivers change direction it's obvious digging in the field next to it ,in the future if left alone the new arch will silt up and the old one come to the fore again if the river returns to its previous course

When i was at surrey uni we experimented  with tracking an eel ,not so easy back then but a simple setup ,gps transmitter running on a battery .We ofcourse didnt have miniaturisation like today so had to use what was available a gps transmitter the size of a thermos flask and a 400 amp car battery ! Strangely the eel never moved from the spot off pompey we released it . We think it liked the place it remained there for years until the battery ran out
