Egg Case ID

Wotcha, this was discovered while out walking - My money is on a Spotted Ray, any ideas?

Find quite afew round my area i always thought they were dogfish cases as ray's are pretty rare round Moray coast.

 

But if i see a skint mermaid i will tell her were her purse is ?.

That was the first thought but, Doggy cases are elongated with curly bits, as in...

Sadly I heard of a recent landing of a Common by a commercial boat. The Skate remained unsold and ended up rotting in a skip

 

Personally I am pleased to see that it had no commercial value but nonetheless this maybe an example of why they should be protected under the Countryside & Wildlife Act?
