A fisherman was fined £350 for being nearly twice the legal limit while on board a boat.

on the way back from a fishing trip the crew of the boat stopped of at a pub on the Isle of Wight and on their way home from the Island had to call out the lifeboat when their boat started to ship water when they eventually got to dry land the lifeboat men smelled alcohol and the police were called and the skipper was tested and found to be over the top.

It's worth noting that my own Insurance Policy for my Boat will not Pay out, even on third party liabilty if I am incapable of operating my vessel safely through intoxicants.

 

Please remember that the law on drink 'driving' was actually brought out before the car existed.

 

I am trying to remember/find the case of a Nanny who was found to be drunk in charge of a pram.

In the Canary Islands it is still law that you can be prosecuted for being drunk in charge of a donkey.

Drunk in charge of a Sloane Ranger, no such offence, but it should be imprisonable at the very least

One of the commercial guys in Guernsey was done for this recently, his boat was going round in circles in the middle of the harbour. He'd split up with his missus and gone on a bender I think.

i have heard that in florida if you are drunk in charge of a boat they take away your car license.....

 

they take boating very seriously over there

The figures for death and injury amongst fishermen is appaling when compared with other types of work.

 

Sometimes I think I know why!

 

And it's not always drink!!

leon here we talking about the deadley method of pair trawling,it should be banned right round the uk in the name of conservation this method is killing dolphins in the north sea as well as in the channel
