Chesters1,

From my fancy dictionary: Greek dēmokratia, from dēmos the people + -kratia power, rule.

There are at least 3 types Mr Bush we use the one where we elect (or some do) someone to act on our behalf, then there's direct democracy where the people decide everything (perfectly feasible today with our electronic devices) and partial democracy where the people have the say in major decisions (like brexit).

At the moment idiots elect idiots who cannot be told what to do once elected ,who get free reign for 4 or 5 years then suddenly remember they need realecting so give the impression the voters count for anything when in they do not except for giving permission to carry on or they elect another bit of slime to do the same.

All perfectly workable all just as old as each other and today far easier to use ,i would plump for semi democracy where parliament have to put to referendum any change in law that effects the country as a whole (not the uk England in this case) petty law changes can be done by the buffoons in parliament.

Remember countries are not run by the elected they are run by ministries ,county (in your case states) councils ,reginal councils ,town councils to village council ,theres a lot off scum floating on the surface that needs thiining out beside the slimy lumps in parliament!
