  2. No we are few now not sure if Newts still going but there's few going from the start .I pop over to Elton's car site now and again but I think driving is behind me now unless I can find a cheap non existent zundapp and sidecar to relive my yooof ,they are rarer than hens teeth I have never seen another combo since I sold mine!
  3. I don't know but going through the feedback about the compost on Wickes I am not the only person losing tomatoes using it : Wickes Peat Free Multi-Purpose Compost - 50L | Wickes.co.uk https://share.google/N2Qp6B9v45ile2MfK The green zelouts dont seem to realise in most places peat is being laid down almost as fast as it's being excavated now .The Holes left behind can be far more beneficial than the bog it's from (fishing (wink) I will get peat bales next year but even that is being changed ,the local tree grower can only get it at a decent price from Lithuania and that's now mixed with 25% tree mass (cannot hold water and needs tons of nitrogen as rotting tree pulp uses it all up) You can see the crap in this stuff it's definitely pulped hay and a fraction of sedge peat ,water goes straight through it and it dries out in a day ,the rootball shrinks in the hanging baskets and the water bypasses it and comes straight out the drainage holes .I resort to using 500ml plastic cups frozen and put in twice a day .The water then slowly permeates the compost rather than being diverted .The pots are not so bad each one is a builders bucket with a few holes 2 inches above the bottom and the bucket itself sitting in a 4 inch deep tray full of water ,the roots can be seen coming out the holes to drink .

  5. Picked 4lb of blackberries last night - they are really early this summer!
  6. Warwick's Water - Thatcham 1900 - 2300 Warm and overcast. AT 24ºC and still 19ºC when I drove off. 2 Tench: 8lb & 3lb 7oz. 2 Perch - small. Mug tench visits the bank again! I'm pretty sure it's the same fish as last year - though its tail has got even more frayed. All bites after 2130 again - place appeared pretty lifeless before then.

There's not many of us left.........so we have to keep an eye out for the ancient old moaners like you Dave. Good to know that you are back and are ok.

    Chesters?

Relieved to see that you haven't kicked the bucket, old fruit. You had us worried for a while! Could your compost be contaminated with Grazon? If there is any chance, chuck it out. Do nor chuck it on the compost heap etc, because it's incredibly persistent.
  10. I am still here ,been busy in the garden ,moaning the compost I bought has killed everything it's touched (poxy peat free crap) but on a new tablet and the layout is different so don't see the AN link that used to be first in line . Lovely someone misses me ,thanks for that ,Dave
  11. Sorry to hear this another AN stalwart gone

Middle Kennet Weir Pool, Marsh Benham 0500 - 1100 Warm and sunny - though feeling a tad chilly when I arrived. AT 10º - 24ºC. River low and looking a little threadbare. 9 Chub; 3lb 3oz. a 'pounder' and 7 chublets. 1 Bream; 2lb 4oz. 2 Doz Dace; all a 'nice' size but nothing particularly noteworthy. 5 Roach; small. 2 Rainbows both 2lb (and possibly the same fish!), 1 Brownie C½lb. Pleasant morning's trotting by the shade of the bankside trees - hadn't realised how warm it had got until I walked back to the car! Nearly all fish from the weir pool apart from the 3lb chub which was from further downstream. An otter came up through as I was packing up - swam through the pool and scampered up the weir to head upstream!

    Chesters?

I was wondering the same thing the other day. It's been a couple of weeks since he signed in. Hopefully all is well.
  18. Has anyone heard from Chesters? It's not like him to not check in for a while.

Warwick's Water - Thatcham 1830 - 2300 Warm and sunny. AT 21º - 14ºC. 2 Tench: 2lb 13oz & 1½lb. 1 Perch 1lb 9oz. Summer tench campaign on this water starts with a (half) decent perch - my first over a lb from the water - which is rumoured to hold MUCH bigger ones! The perch came early in the session when the sun was still one the water and I wasn't really expecting a bite. Both tench, however, were caught after 2130.
  20. I'm sorry to hear this, another one of the good guys gone. My condolences to his family RIP
  21. Very sad news RIP; my thoughts go out to his family Keith
  22. Not imitation grubs but; I’ve just sent off for some VMC 7237B Light Inline Single Barbless hooks in sizes 10; 8 & 6 so that I can change the hooks on some very small plugs that I bought for catching some Chub; to single. Hooks, something I’ve been promising myself for a long time. The next time you see them they’ll have single hooks. Let’s just hope the chub like them. Keith
  23. Very sad news to hear, I never met him personally but i did flog him a good number of Porcie' floats a couple of times ! My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Johns family and friends.
  24. Awful news I never met John but he always came across as a fun and top fella. Another one of the Anglers Net legends sadly gone. Best thoughts and wishes to Johns family.
  25. Terrible news. Condolences to John's friends and family.
  26. Harris Lake - Marsh Farm fishery, Milford. 0600 - 2245 Warm with bright sunshine for most of the day - clouding over somewhat for the last 3-4 hours of daylight (thankfully!) AT, a chilly 5ºC when I arrived, highs of around 24ºC and 16ºC when I drove off a little after a 11pm. 12 Tench. Various sizes over 2lb with 4 over 4lb - biggest 5lb 12oz. 2 Crucians; both pounders though not by a lot. A doz roach and rudd - mainly rudd with sizes ranging from tiny up to a rudd of 14oz. Annual get together of the IAC and it was great to see faces old and new and remember those that are no longer with us. Today would have been Paul's 65th birthday hence why I chose it for the date of the 10th crucian fish-in. I think most folks caught 'something' with quite a few tench showing , biggest I heard of was Geoff's tinca of 6lb 8oz. The goal though is to get a crucian as the trophy goes to the biggest one caught and they were noticeable by their absence - unless you were in Peg 37. Alex drew this peg and put us all to shame by catching no fewer than 18 crucians - the only one out of 16 anglers to get one! His biggest was a modest 1lb 8oz so Alex wins the trophy for a 2nd time with a fish just half as big as his 2019 win. I caught mainly roach and rudd but fished on with Gary after everyone else had left and eventually manged to winkle out a couple of crus amongst the plethora of tench. Gary managed a 2lb 3oz warrior literally last cast (we agreed to pack up at 1045pm so as to be on the road home by 1100pm and he had this fish at 2243!) Here's to next year - and I might bring my own signs this time to say the lake is booked (I had to kick off 4 interlopers, as whilst the booking was on the match calendar on the website it wasn't on the fishery noticeboard!) My biggest.
  27. I received a text out of the blue yesterday to inform me that John Suffill passed away on Wednesday. John was a long-standing moderator on these forums, starting right back in the days when they were extremely busy, and many members of the forum will have chatted to him over the years. My condolences to all his family and friends. Thank you, John. You were a fantastic support over the years. I know you used to get a great deal of enjoyment from Anglers Net and it was a better place for you. Tight lines and rest in peace, mate.
  28. Cubed, Braised Lamb's Liver, (left over from last Thursday's Tea) Also worked, & got me 3 decent (Just what you need in a Match) size Carp on "Method".
  29. Good to hear that they are good Martin I’ll give them a try for the Tench and Crucians on my local estate lake. Keith
  30. Hi Keith, a quick update from Sunday (29th) at Moor Monkton Lakes in the Match. I caught a nice Bream, well over 3Lb using the Mealworms, 3 in a baitband on Method Feeder. I gave my mate a couple of handfuls, and he caught a couple of F1's (shallow on Pole) near the end of the match. They Also make Great "Banded Hair Stops" cut in half and slipped in the band after pulling through Meat, Or straight forward Hair. So Keith, yes I can say they Do work, and maybe could do even Better on a "Different Given Day". Just remember the "Near On, Boiling Water" to soften them before "1st Use" & just leave to cool on their own at home, And can re-freeze as many times you like. They'll stand, plain Hooking as well !! Ready to go fishing "Anytime you Want", without a visit to Tackle Shop (which Don't sell Mealworms and are Only from Pet Food shops or Online Sold, to the Little Bald fella, with the 8 Foot "Tele' Rods", (who has all the Long Stuff as well !!)
