  1. Kendo, I'm with you, I HATE adverts for credit cards and then adverts telling me they can give me a loan to pay off my credit cards and all my other debts. I have a simple way of dealing with the commercial break and I do it EVERY time.....................Hit the mute button. Total silence, total happiness [ 03. 8. Just a thought, it may be better to take it to your local tackle shop and have it serviced by the owner. My local shop charges £7.50, for that he completely strips the reel down cleans, oils and greases any bits that need doing and sets the reel back up. 99.9% of anglers say its just like having a new reel again. Obviously if new parts are needed then it is plus the cost of the part. It is well worth the expence just think he has the experience and will know the reel inside out. Just think you will ALWAYS find a screw that wont move and scrape your knuckle when the screwdriver slips and it then chews the screw head up. Just a thought..............
  9. I would respectfully suggest that you start at your LOCAL tackle shop. This is the guy who probably will be supplying your bait on a regular basis. Get to know him and the shop staff. Buy you end tackle from him,(and rod and reel if possible) local shops are vital. If there is more than one shop try all of them you will find your favourite. we have several in Blackpool and 2 of them I wouldnt even think about going in. Listen to other anglers in the shop, as to where fish are being caught and how they are being caught. Tell other anglers you are a novice, anglers in general will be more than happy to help and show you things you need to know, even take you for a fishing session and show you what to do. As for rod and reel, try something like a Ron Thompson rod and reel kit. They are £39.99 and are ideal for a starter set. You can always upgrade later if you like sea angling. If you dont like it you wont lose so much money if you sell it. Check out your local shop they may well sell Ron Thompson stuff. Good Luck and enjoy your sea angling. Oh by the way DONT be afraid to ask. It does not matter how silly you may think it sounds..... ASK! [ 01. February 2004, 05:54 PM: Message edited by: Ian Bass ]

  13. nick, Ive read a little about the pole since I replied. Feeling slightly silly now. (Nothing new there then). Simple answer to your question. If it aint broke.............
  14. Nugg, You SERIOUSLY worry me You must spend hours checking old posts either that or your stalking me . Unfortunatly with your map you are no where near where I go fishing. However the two pools on the 'Crem' are good. Not sure if your allowed to fish them though [ 26. January 2004, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: Ian Bass ]

  17. It will suit me fine. When I get sent down for no rod licence (see Licence posts on other Forums)I'll only do one weekend in my local open prison. In Friday, Out Monday, Fishing by 10.30am [ 25. January 2004, 07:38 PM: Message edited by: Ian Bass ]
  18. Dont worry chaps I'm here. Though I think Ive covered this subject on the other posts. Chesters- The EA have just ammended the exempt persons. Theyve taken off Honda 90's and tobacco. YIPEEEEEEEE I'm in the exempt catagory!!!!!
  19. How long did it take you to find those old posts? JEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ they went back to last JANUARY. Surely you dont store all my old posts?....................................do you?
  20. Nugg, I suppose in a way I am proud of not being caught. It shows the EA chaps arnt doing a very good job. However, it is fair to say I do fish in a very 'out of the way' pond which I bet they dont even know exists. I only fish from April to September and that depend on the weather. Sea fishing is my preference really. It would not bother me too much if I didn't go coarse fishing again, I just enjoy the odd day here and there. I read the article from the EA you put up, If they are getting £15 million from licences they wont miss my £22.50 too much will they! I could always give them a false name and address if I was ever caught I would refuse to pay any fines imposed and eventually do 7 days at 'Her Majesty's', be out in 3 and the fine is written off, fishing the following day. The system is crazy. As for my Internet access, £9.99 per month including all phone line charges. Sorry mate there is NO reason you can give me that would convince me to re-new my licence [ 25. 21. Do we now think that we are being bombarded with these reality TV programmes? Celebrity this, Pop that, Jungle, Studio. Lets face it, It's hardly entertaining TV isit?
  22. I can see the logic of putting 10p on maggots or 5p on hooks, floats and tackle in general. Everyone needs these items and I'm sure it would raise more cash for the EA than licence's do as you would not miss the add 10 or 15p Evryone would then pay a little. The more you fish the more you pay. Seems fair to me. I fish on about once a week. Why should I pay the same licence fee as a match angler who may fish 5 or 6 times a week
  23. Bu**er! its a bit far for a day out from Blackpool.
