  1. I'm sure it was originally mentioned on Tomorrows World, no idea who the manufacturer was unfortunately.
  2. Veering slightly off topic, seeing as we have some engine fans here, anyone ever know what happened to the starter-motor-less start idea? The idea was that, in these times of electronic engine management, that the starting circuit would detect which cylinder was after TDC on the firing stoke, squirt a charge of fuel in, and ignite it. Obviously this would be easier to achieve, and smoother, the more cylinders one had to play with, and perhaps testing would show the lower limit might be 5 or 6 pot.
  3. I'm no expert here, but I'll have a go at answering your question. Something with lots of visual and aromatic attraction, but little nutritional value. A very finely sieved powdered groundbait for example, perhaps with one or two maggots/chopped worms or whatever in. Sensas Lake 3000 Black perhaps, mole hill soil maybe? I'd say pellets were very high feed, after all, that's what they were designed for. Two of the big names in commercial groundbait are Sensas and Van Den Eynde Sensas Website Van Den Eynde Website With Sensas, they are marked 'for winter' or 'low feed content' in the description. I'm not that familiar with Van Den Eynde. Hope that helps.
  4. Ah good for you Steve. I'll have to put my first bout of parenting (sons 19 and 22) down as a complete failure to be honest (and honest I am). I tried, but perhaps I didn't try hard enough. With my partner and her lad (8) now, and we seem to be doing just fine, so maybe the 'older is wiser' saying holds some water after all. I do love going to the school and saying 'so are you going to cane (insert name of naughty child here)'...love the look of absolute horror on their faces, priceless.
  5. "Oh lord where's my hankie " Isn't that what St. Peter said too?
  6. Hear, hear! Exactly how I was brought up, and how I bring up mine, but sadly the teachers and government don't back me up. Does make it a little harder.
  7. I'll post Jeff's email to me here, I'm sure he won't mind. "Many thanks for letting me know. If you need any help I will be around for some time yet but we all need a break. Best regards, Jeff" So I think that's a positive sign no? Hopefully someone will approach Jeff and offer to buy the business (name and all?) as an ongoing concern, and hopefully Jeff will accept. I would love to, but electronics is about the only subject I've never been able to fathom, electrics no problem, electronics no chance.
  8. Well I've had an e-mail of him today that confirms he has retired.
  9. Lol, not just me that noticed then. I did start a post, but gave up half way through. Still, give 'em a break, it doesn't have a cast exhaust manifold, not a tubular jobby either mind you!
  10. I have two pole rig winders, one each that came with cheap margin poles, but possibly one might be a non-non-standard size. So as per title, is there a standard size, or does each maker do their own thing? Sorry chaps (and chapesses), waste of forum time and space, already found the answer. Mods please delete.
  11. Completely off topic, at middle school we had a kid called Johnny Blower, not only did he fart a lot, and loudly, but Richard Adams another class mate used to ask him loudly "Can I borrow your rubber Johnny", to which Master Blower would reply " I ain't got in on me Dick!". Oh the merriment that caused. We never did tire of that, well, maybe I lie, I think perhaps the teachers did! How innocent we we're, I guess now it's all about smuggling your Mac-10 into class, or giving the French teacher a shot of rohypnol.
  12. I don't call people idiots (well not to their faces anyway, unless they're small...and drunk...and a long way away!). Preserving human life at what cost to society though? Would you really wish to ban anything that can and does result in a percentage of innocent deaths? Electricity? Gas? Cars? Aircraft? Alcohol? Young parents? Single parents? etc. You see my point I'm sure. And I'm quite sure that actually you are interested in convenience more than human life sometimes, as most of us are.
  13. Andy 1984, so when someone gets stabbed to death with a perfectly legal knife, that's better than an illegal knife? Surely a knife is a knife is a knife when is comes to being stabbed. What eBay is doing , as has been mentioned, will make zero impact to knife crime...zero. But it does **** off law abiding people.
  14. Thought I'd add some details of the already suggested Solar I-Lite Bobbins now that I've bought a pair. Here's the bobbin with one 5g and one 10g weight screwed on (weights are available separately) And here are the components. The clear plastic part accepts Isotopes of up to 4mm x 26mm, or chemical lights such as the Starlite SL-5 (3mm x 23mm). The black plastic cone at the bottom accepts your securing line, the hole is fairly small, but a hot wire or careful drilling/filling could open it up some. The line clip is adjustable. It should be obvious from the photos that they are quite small, my calipers measure them at 83mm long (2 1/2") long fully assemble WITHOUT weights. The bobbin itself is very light. I hope that helps someone make an informed buying decision.
  15. "When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out." Reverend Martin Niemoeller It's yet another tiny freedom being chipped away.
  16. Shouldn't tackle manufacturers and dealers be helping funds wise?
  17. Well, my second GFx alarm (ordered on the 1st Feb) arrived this morning, so I'm a happy bunny, and it looks like Jeff is honouring existing orders.
  18. I'm very old fashioned. I use a manual foot pump (Halfords. c.1970), pumping up beyond pressure, then bringing back down to pressure checking with my sturdy digital pressure gauge. And of course only early in the morning (tyres cold) on the flat and level. Sad huh? I don't have a tartan blanket and first aid kit though!
  19. Norton! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Do a search! Great software, but doesn't co-exist with any other software, never found an install that works prefectly.
  20. The problem depends on where you are getting that IP address from, and whether the sender is clever enough to use some IP faking software, or perhaps re-routing through another PC, or using a proxy or some kind.
  21. Oh dear, showing my age then!
  22. Don't want to worry you guys, but some medical professional body want to ban ALL knives over a certain length (I think 4"). Apparently the experts all agree there's no need for a chef to own anything longer!!! Now, if this was any other country, and any other government, you'd chuckle. But it isn't, this might actually become law one day!
  23. PMSL I can't believe I've never heard that of thought of it before! NB: Being English and very proud of it, I make no apology for finding light relief in even the gravest of situations.
  24. Smart donkey/mule crossbreed! Edit: Sheesh, can't even get that right! Make that smart donkey!
  25. I know, what a beep beep beep! I used to collect various items of ammunition and ordnance from there, all inert and safe and 100% legal...that went the same way.
