  1. If it did, the girls would have to been built like shot putters to stop them getting hypothermic. I'm thinking somethings should only be done in sunny climates. squibs
  2. If that's the cost of the reel, then how much will the rod cost? Whilst it would be nice to have that sort of money to spend on a rod and reel set. It strikes me that some people have more money than sense . As a showcase reel, I'm sure it's awsome. tight lines squibs
  3. Outstanding views snatcher. The van looks just the ticket. Beats my little tag-a-long any day. Tight lines. squibs
  4. Oh it's you who scares the poop out of me with the gun shots. There I am pursueing my fishing dreams. Bang, bang "what the". Me jumping makes flys work in odd ways. Come to think of it you might help to improve my hook up rate I'm from Wymondham, so Rocklands is a hawk and a spit for me. You have the some problem as I do when I want to go sea fishing. It's a trip worth making for me, but it depends on your circumstances. If our beloved leadership put the fuel prices up further, then I'll have to reconsider how far I have to travel. Either that or I'll have to take the train and do a lot more over night sea fishing. Tight lines squibs
  5. I was thinking the same with reguard to the fish size. They'll look good once smoked on the plate. I was at Rocklands this Monday gone. Wind, rain, hail and snow I must have been mad, but I bagged my quota of fish for the day. The wind was blowing from the top left hand side of the lake over the trees. This forced the fish into the two bays on the right hand side. Two stockies from there and interestingly one over wintered one from the reed bed at the top left. I lost a few flys, but it was a good learning day. I had to work for the fish. Would you be good enought to post a small report on Tuddenham. I would be interested to hear how you got on. 6. You may know this already Walcott, but James at Rocklands has put his fees up to £20 and has increased the bag limit to four fish per session. The season ticket is still the some as last year. He is also growing on some Trout so that there will be larger over wintered fish available. A good season ahead I feel. Tight lines. squibs

    Rigs

Thanks for the feedback chaps. It's added some food for thought I'll have to have a little play with a spare rod the next time I'm on the beach. Phil. Have you tried rapping your crab around a piece of foam and back shot the line? Your idea seems very good. As a follow on to your idea in thought, I was thinking that it might help the Southern guys with the robbing spider crabs. Tight lines. squibs

    Rigs

Has anyone used Hair rigging or pop up style rigs when sea fishing? Do you think that it'll work? I was day dreaming about going fishing the other day. Not had the fishing gland rubbed for a little while and I was wondering whether the old carp and pike guys ideas would transfer acrossed to the sea. I know the pike people use a hair rigged pop up bait with macky calling it a kebab, Angling Times ran an article on it a while ago. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this. 9. That's the one Ken L. "Is that why Pamela Anderson wares colourfull bikini tops?" She had a bilini on? I never noticed. Thanks for clearing that one up for me five bellies. Tight lines. squibs
  10. I use a Ian Golds rig wallet and I use sandwich bag plastic coated wire wraps. Wrap the rig around your hand and use the wrap near the hook. I've never had to untangle waterside when I've done this properly before hand at home. I hope it helps. Tight lines squibs
  11. Elton I've seen one advertised a couple of years ago. It was from a South African company and it had a big two coloured ball cock siting on the top of it. Something to do with telling whether it was cominig towards you or away from you. I think it was used because the S,A have have a particular problem with their surf beaches and the size of the waves. Sorry if it's a bit on the woolly side, but it might jog someones memory. Tight lines. squibs

    first multi

lyons As some one who has just started using a multiplier as well, take note of all of the above. I started by screwing all the adjustments down and then slackening off as my skill and confidence grew. I've been using the local field to practice and have found that little adjustments, small steps will help you progress in the correct direction. Just remember that, first off you are never going to cast 150 yards plus, so don't try. If you get it right it'll come with time. The best I've ever done is a 120 yard overhead thump on the field. At the beach I'll be happy with a 90 yarder. I hope that you master it, as it wicked seeing your lead fly off into the blue yonder and your reel staying neat. Oh another thing to remember is that, as your line leaves your reel, the spool speeds up. This is why birdies happen I think (tell me if I'm wrong please guys). Tight lines. squibs
  13. 70 Bass at approx' 2lb per fish. £6 per pound approx' £840. I think this man knew exactly what he was doing and was prepared to run the risk of being knobbled. I suppose the "take for need not for greed" saying is a bit lost with this chap? squibs
  14. Just read futher through the book myself and yes it really is the a to z of A.N. members. I feel humble and honoured to be in the company of such a knowledgable group of people. tight lines.. squibs
  15. I know that it's a bit out of your way, but you could try Rocklands Mere between Attleborough (sp. sorry having a spelling moment) and Watton. As for the river, have you tried the river at Fakenham. You can fish for free along parts of the river. John Wilsons, Where to fish in Norfolk gives you a good map of the free stretches. While I think about it, out that way there is the Norfolk fly fishers lakes out at Swanton Morley. I believe that it's a members water, but if you wish to join there I'm sure they will give you taster sessions so to speak. As with any thing if you don't ask you don't get. I hope that this helps. 16. I think they're going to need a bigger boat! Roy Snyder, some big boats and a crimson sea should be for tourism around here. We can add it to the myths of black shuck the devil dog and the headless white woman. Tight lines. squibs
  17. Can you send some fish of that size up to Norfolk please? Well done. Tight lines squibs
  18. Just a small list of fish then? You've not been dipping into the local Sea life centre by any chance? Tight line . squibs
  19. Good idea, however the sea isn't at it's coldest yet. I've been in the north sea in January and it was positively balmy. Mind you i did have a lot of survival gear on and was waiting for a Helichopter to turn up. The sea seems to be at it's coldest leading upto and for the first half of summer. British aircrew are in immersion suits from October to May (I think). I seen aircrew sweating like pigs walking out the their aircraft and they are concerned with heat stress whilst working. They know that if they didn't have all the gear on that they would freeze to death very quickly. I've heared figures around the 15 min' mark to shuffle of your aquatic coil. Tight lines. squibs
  20. I got it for chrimbo as well. Top book, one hell of a tomb though had to rest it to read it for some time. I really like the take on conservation and preserving the stocks. I also like the fact that i know some of the marks and places. I spend my holidays down that neck of the woods so it's very easy to relate to what the authers are chundering on about. 21. Thanks chesters Yep! It's got plastic on it. Not what I wished for, chopping things around. I don't see the point after someone has spent good money on it, but hay. Looks like I'll have to knock up something on my laith. Oh by the way mines a nice metalic red one (tripod that is) . Tight lines. squibs
  22. This year Santa left a 7' Imax Tripod with bait tray under the chrimbo tree for me and I was wondering if there are any problems that I should look out for? I'm not too keen on the plastic locking screws. I think brass replacements are the order of the day for them. I would very much like your views, thoughts and ideas on this one. I'm in two minds as to wheather it'll go on ebay unused or not. Tight lines. squibs

  24. "I dont wish to sound negative on the future of sea fishing, but as a businessman and one relying entirely on the sea fishing industry - things are not good". That is truely a sad thing to hear. It seems that yet again through this govenments ineptitude and misguided belief that they are know what is good for us, they are prepared to bring in laws that will push the smaller guys to the wall. You know they'll make crimmnals of people who do not wish to pay for an unfair tax (sorry licence), use there phone in the car and yet they will not deport convicted crimminals and worst still, they will not lock up kiddy fiddlers. What is happening to this country? As a fisherman, East Anglian and a very proud father. I really worry about what these fools will leave for our children. Dramatic I know, but things, in my opinion are begining to feel Orwellian. Tight lines squibs
  25. There is only one reson for this preposed bill and that is money! As said by themselves and i quote , "To capitalise on the economic potential of the sport". The rest is a smoke screen, with the vain hope that this old flannel will wash away any fears that we might have. The bit about the environment is yet again cobblers! The angling community has had its problems in its past with dodgy practise, i.e gaffing. line disgarding, littering and under size fishing. The fact is that the vast majority of anglers are more than aware of their environmental responsablities and have changed their ways to accomodate this. After all we wish to be able to fish the productive marks and have fish for the future. I feel utterly dismayed at the money grabbing and erosion of our traditional rights by this govenment. What are they going to tax next living (sorry they do that one), breeding, thinking and dying (oops sorry they tax that one as well)? When will they ever be honest with us and say "we're squint we need more of your money". Not a vote winner but at lest they are being honest. Rant over. Tight lines. squibs
