  1. fed up.don't always want the last say, seems to turn out that way.whats up,can't i be in your gang?thought forums were for learning throgh chat, fun, information and harmless banter.i've tried, maybe this is not for me. i'm off'don't think i'll be back.  :mad:ps.thanks to anyone who has given me advice
  2. nice, real nice.i must stop being a luddite when it comes to computers,i would't have to ask such daft quesions like what's it for  ps.whats it for?
  3. i was going to say that, but i picked the easy option due to typing skills.i remember reading somewhere, surface lures especialy prop baits, sould be used on calm, flat water, sunday was howling, big waves down the drains near me.took 3 pike to 9lb on my "wood chopper" rules can be bent, but still proper information and good advice sould be taken in. thanks steve burke, nice report
  4. sorry, forgot.i also tend to use crank baits as a sort or gental jerk bait.i get better results by puting a few twiches in.it's no good just casting and retriveing at a steady, unaltering pace.make your lure an easy unresistable target not just another fish swimming by
  5. i've used many colours and had success with each.through my fishing, canals and more fished areas tend to like your natural colours, say greens and silver paterns.rivers and drains i tend to use any thing bright, unusual or just plain daft.
  6. luv that stuff, can cast my "moss boss"onto it,then plip by plip bring it to a hole, let it sink, few twitches, bang!!!pike. i like lots of weed
  7. took a friend a typical strech of a lincolnshire drain yesterday.he'd come 120 miles (his grandad had died)and needed a short time on the bank.we could only fish for one and a half hours,so i chose an untrodden spot, somewhere i,ve not fished or seen before, but had located on a landranger map.we are best mates,we'venot fished together since boxing day. what has this got to do with weed i hear you ask,we didn't care about the weed,we just needed to fish my mates personal best pike did stand at 9lb,i lent him my total set up,he caught a new p.b 20 1/4lb,chrisened my new 1-minus and made my day with the look on his face and his victory dance.  if you need to fish just go,time is precious.
  8. don,t find it a problem, moreof a challange than a problem.not been to 40 or 16 in a while.vanatts and southand north drove have plenty of weedy patches, mainly loose floating stuff court on the tops of the surface weed.need a good rise in the water levels so it can be flushed out of the siuice gates. sorry can't be more tecnical, but hey,it's a start.
  9. couldn't have put it better myself.(a few swearwords prehaps) .
  10. thanks richard,i've got a 5501c3,i can fire 15g lures a good distance,i don't get birdnests that often i highly rate the reel.it's been a hard slog to get this far.i want to use it with a slightly longer rod,say 8ft.this will be my hevier set up,lures up to 100gs.the rod i've got casts to 56gs.its a good rod it's medium action, abu aswell.i had been fishing for only two months when i got my abu,i was expecting an egg whisk type costing about £30, i,d never seen one before,my mate hadn't,i had alot to learn now, i wouldn't part with it.i would like to purcase a smaller reel,to put with my 6,1/2ft rod.shimano have a new range out next week i am tempted.
  11. sorry,spell check...sleep,baby
  12. i lure fish.i was given abu ambassadeurfor my birthday two years ago.it was sold to my sister by our local friendly fishing shop.i use it with a 6 1/2ft rod,it's been hard work.i came to the conclusion,a long while back, that this reel was slightly oversized for the job in hand.i don't use lures over 2ozs,well not yet.my birthday,it cometh around again, and i'm looking at geting a shimano multiplier.comments would be gratefully recived, esecially if you own one.thanks, got to sllep, bayy thinks it's day time, won't let us sleep!!!!
  13. i try to only eat farmed fish.i don,t live near the sea,if i did i would love to be able to catch a few fish to eat. we must stop this over fishing and protect our basic need to be able to bring fresh, untamperd with food home to eat.
  14. after "elphix",i'm keeping my mouth shut on this one.used to buy A.T,don't so much now unless matt hayes has something for me to learn,he's cool
  15. sorry, tis a good set up.didn't mean to sound so harsh, had been up for a long time(new dad)and the picture i got in my head of this complex didnt match the one mr morton posted.i will be slower with my acid tounge next time, again,i'm sorry
  16. sounds like the venue that the bearded freak mr.taylor was sugesting to be built for the national angling stadium don't take me the wrong way,but i like to fish rivers, drains and my local canal(off season)maybe it's because i'm a bumkin at heart,i need the air, space and the sense of adventure.concrete and astroturf just don't float my boat
  17. idon't use bait for fishing, when i walk my dogs (jacks, what else would i have)along the river,i flick in any fruit i find growing next to the river.i love to watch the fish, mainly big chub and trout, come out of their hideouts and engulf my offerings.i come back later and catch a few with some small lures on light tackle.i often take my mates little girl, she loves to see the fish eat what she throws in.
  18. morning, peter.i don't get much sleep, new baby,my first.need to fish, need to learn. i cut the plastic with my wire cutters, keeping the flatter face towards the shape i am cutting.the cracks seem to happen on the front face of the cutters.i've tried to use a soft wire but under tension, will break the plastic,i'd sooner struggle with the stiffer wire.hope this helps.
  19. the names ben, i am a steeplejack,i see things from a differnt angle
  20. no march for me.i lived in the sticks for all my life, not now though, can't afford a house had to move to town  i don't see why i should dedicate any or my time making quaint villages more attractive to people who don't give a ship!!don't get me wrong i have pity for those who work with the hunt,i care not for the people they serve.don't try to tag fish on with this alliance, when i need to fight i will on the clothes front,i think me and my fellow lure fishermen/women are the smartest dressed out there.paul smith jeans, animal t'shirts quicksilver hats and o'neil tops.
  21. come to the waters around grantham, they sit there poles in hand, looking at me as if i'm some sort of joke(i am but don't tell them)as i take care of my chosen quarry.this year i have seen dead pike a plenty, one weighing 18 1/2lbs,nice dent and blemish just above the eyes (i have photos).i'm not a thug, but i look the part,if i see this i will act you better have a change of clothes
  22. just a quikie, sorry peyer waller,i never got back to you about the anti kink viens.i use lure wire,it is stiff, but shapeable.an audio cassette case is ideal to make the vien with,it's stiff and will hold it's shape with a big spoon(lucky strike,my favourite)
  23. spoons are good, line twist is a ****** ,get or make a good anti-kink vain, use it with your spinners aswell
  24. try the "freindly fisherman" pages,i have never seen so much information about each lure,a directory of lures, how good is that? sorry i can't remeber off hand the address,i'm sure you'll find it great site thanks to andy lush(i think)
