    Perch

How big would you expect them to be in a small pond about 2 acre, it's full of carp, Bream and Tench. I'm thinking about having a crack for them, i've caught lots of tiddlers last summer while I was aiming for the Bream. I'm not sure how big they grow relative to the size of water though. Thanks
  2. I haven't caught a single fish since last summer. I've been out about 6 times and blanked. I blame not being able to fish for the winter species due to lack of a car though.
  3. Looked like an excellent weekend. Hopefully I can attend next time.
  4. Ah ha. Makes sense. I had images of 5 inch blue bottles!
  5. Ok thanks Elton. I'll know for next time.
  6. £12.95 + £1.95 50lb p+p on ebay for power pro green braid 150 yd. Good price? I tried to insert an ebay link but I couldn't fathom it out
  7. Cheers mateys. I wouldn't be doing it for a while. I was just curious. I wouldn't have thought pike would be interested in flies. It must be really hard to catch them. ... the pike that is, not the flies. That would be a job and a half, fly live baiting.
  8. What sort of rod would you do this. Would a light lure rod do the trick?
  9. Last June I created a swim for the first time on a river in Ludham. The grass etc must have been shoulder length. it was great being shrouded by the wilderness. It was a good swim under a tree in a little area protected from boats. It was a popular one I couldn't get to for the rest of summer! I'm not a morning person....
  10. Aye have a good'un. Maybe we can use the free time to take some English lessons hehe!
  11. Aye. The guy's a prat. Very Brent like. It **** me off where he was trying to sleep in a hut somewhere we'd think was paradise and all he was doing was moaning about coconuts falling on his hut. Spoilt brat **** nonse.
  12. I was just suprised as I am new to piking myself. I assumed you would use a wire trace. I guess that might interfere with the action of the lure though. Surely there must be a risk of the mono being bitten through, just as there is in dead/live baiting?
  13. Soon to be someones lunch by the looks of it
  14. I'd say about 2. Maybe 2 1/2. 3 lb at a push.
  15. The book was written by Cliff Twemlow.
  16. Great stuff. I'll see if I can make it. I need to buy a rod too. Where aouts on the middle level will you be?
  17. I admit i've always wanted a sprite (from the sprite advert). I've just been reading the pike fish-in at the end of the month. I wouldn't mind tagging along if I have the time, if it is still on and if it isn't too late notice. I've wanted to go pike fishing all winter but I haven't had the experience in handling and no one to learn from in the area and thought it best to leave it until someones can show me.
  18. . Cheered my afternoon up. At least a cup of tea is usually hot I'm off to do a bit of curb crawling for the nearest Costa. Ooh diiiirty
  19. I think a lot of bailiffs are more likely to check the suspicious looking characters for licenses. I.E kids, chavs etc. As a teenager I was checked regular, but now i'm in my late 20's i'm never checked. I think the bailiffs expect the more well presented older angler to automatically have them, probably not true in all cases but most I reckon.
  20. Is it because they are 'Andy' with forceps? ....sorry
