  1. Chesters1, IT'S fun to speculate but MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHIT WALKS Scotland isn't going anywhere. They may try in this era of nationalism but individually Scots are tight as bark on a tree with their own money Phone
  2. COD, Now with some inside knowledge on the industry that you can take to the bank. I am a shade tree expert and - - - SCOTLAND will only vote "independence" as long as North Sea oil, on a 10 yr average, has remained plus $100 a barrel. Last I checked it hoovered around half that. Oil right now is BOGO. Timing doesn't favor independence to a large extent the uncertainty created by this virus. EXAMPLE: China, the worlds fastest growing economy, oil consumption is down double figures and still dropping like a rock Phone
  3. COD, ON the issue of SCOTLAND - re-read KEN'S POST and get back to me Phone
  4. COD, You're not catching on - WHY would it matter how many WRONG opinions you have? The only thing that should matter is the TRUTH. Look at my next post. Your guy is as full of shite as a Christmas goose. It is the other way around. The EU wants access to the superioUr UNITED KINGDON SECURITY SYSTEM. I'm beginning to think you believe everything and about the UK is inferioUr to whatever the EU brings to the table. NOT TRUE AND YOU ARE WRONG. THE UK HAS THE UPPER HAND IN MANY AREAS OF CONCERN!!! My opinions on brain surgery are worth about the same as your opinion on brain surgery. That's my point no one should listen to you or to me when it comes to brain surgery anymore than they should listen to your has been on security. HE IS NOT CREDIBLE Phone
  5. COD, Why YES - I BELIEVE MY JUDGEMENT IS AT LEAST EQUAL TO HIS. THE REASON SHOULD BE OBVIOUS TO YOU. IF I AM WRONG AND HE IS WRONG OUR OPINIONS ARE EQUAL. HE IS WRONG FOR A FAR MOR SERIOUS REASON THAN ME BEING STUPID. HOWEVER, WRONG IS A FIXED OUTCOME - IT IS WRONG PHONE
  6. CHESTERS1, ONLY a short distance from me as the crow flies. cut and paste """"Just before breakfast on the morning of March 4, [1918]Private Albert Gitchell of the U.S. Army reports to the hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas, complaining of the cold-like symptoms of sore throat, fever and headache. By noon, over 100 of his fellow soldiers had reported similar symptoms, marking what are believed to be the first cases in the historic influenza pandemic of 1918, later known as Spanish flu. The flu would eventually kill 675,000 Americans and an estimated 20 million to 50 million people around the world, proving to be a far deadlier force than even the First World War.""""" Now the bad news - the Centers for Disease Control estimate Covid-19 to be at least 10X more contagious. Thankfully, we have far better medical interventions than in 1918. Phone edit: we brag on a 99% recovery rate. That means ONLY seven hundred MILLION are at risk of of dying from COVID-19
  7. COD, Why YES - I BELIEVE MY JUDGEMENT IS AT LEAST EQUAL TO HIS. I NEVER CEASE TO BE AMAZED HOW MANY WAYS THERE ARE TO BE WRONG. THE PROBLEM IS IF I'M WRONG ON THIS TOPIC NO SKIN IS LOST. PHONE
  8. Cory, ask CHESTERS1 ABOUT THE FROGS MY comment addressed COD's specific reliance on really really bad information from an equally bad source pHONE
  9. ALL, Third day in a row - - - Calif covid deaths over 1000/per day Phone
  10. COD, Just a note. EU wants UK to share more data before it grants access to crime-fighting system. European committee says Britain with the vastly superior system should share with member states The UK - EU’s data-sharing should be based on “the goodwill of reciprocity” What do you think? Phone
  11. COD, Wasn't it Sir Ian BLAIR who fell from favoUr of the police commissioner through a series of events that showed up his lack of judgement, and people skills. Is he YOUR chosen "go to" guy for advice Phone
  12. Cory, Haven't we been waiting since 2016? I'm afraid the virus will continue to dampen the pace of progress in either direction. IF the UK and CALIFORNIA are any indicators this is really serious shite. A peculiarity of people controlling money is that they abhor change Phone
  13. All, The world seem to be taking BREXIT rather matter of fact. Concerns surrounding Covid-19 in the UK is of far greater importance. BREXIT seems to be a yawner. My question is, since you are "out" how many generations will it take for the blame game of "them or us" speculations subside and you are once again the UNITED KINGDOM (in whatever form that might be)
  14. BOLD BEAR, FOR tiger to be effective IMO the sedge grass must occur naturally. LORDY lordy - my only UK bait banning experience was canned luncheon meat after the removal of about a meter of it from the bottom. Iwas paid by the EA. - Foreign experts were impressive in the early 1970's It's easy to have to much of a good thing, especially in the relative close fishing quarters found in the UK Phone
  15. ALL, For those who haven't noticed California reporting a Covid death every ten minutes. May just be a solution to any immigration problem. Phone
  16. COD, In my 80 year I have never seen a commercial fisherman that WASN'T BITTRELY DISSAPOINTED 24/7. If you recall Mr Locker called for Eustice's head before any deal. You can smell dead fish but the stench of fishing politics seems to elude you - why is that? Phone
  17. COD, Deloitte is one of the many reasons you should have faith in the UK as a nation in the 21st century and beyond. Here's a bit for you. """""The international firm is a UK private company, limited by guarantee, supported by a network of independent legal entities. Deloitte provides audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and legal services with approximately 312,000 professionals globally.""""""" They command respect beyond reproach (much unlike your sources?). Phone
  18. Chesters1, I too would post - but in my case it would be if I caught ANYTHING AT ALL Phone
  19. leeda, Somewhere along the line you were misinformed. Maybe during the "killer peanut" era of the 70's. TIGER NUTS (CHUFFA) is SEDGE, a member of the grass families that produce many of our cereal grains. I do not know of a form or treatment for tiger nuts that would be harmful to any fish, carp included. A story (groan) - there were a couple places where tiger nuts could not be touched - by far the best bait. We have any number of small rivers on flat land that meander through a watershed. During high water or flooding water will erode undercutting the bank. The growing sedge grass with the nodules, tiger nuts, attached swing down in the water and become like fishing under a ripe fruit tree. For several days these swims will be quite productive. That's the only time tiger nuts were a 'go to" bait for me Phone
  20. ALL, COD I'm not going to sort it for you but https://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/Deloitte/cn/Documents/international-business-support/deloitte-cn-ibs-power-up-uk-inward-investment.pdf DELOITTE one of my frequent sources has "inward investment" almost EXACTLY opposite your post? MAYBE A TYPO? Phone
  21. Tigger, I agree - pictures make the post. I'm going to try your method Phone
  22. TENCH, Sounds a bit like you are overthinking the bait dilemma. AREN'T chub a member of the carp family, despite looking distinctly different?. I continue to see big chub grow fast on a high-protein diet that often includes dead fish, and a great many outsize fish have been caught on deadbaits meant for pike and zander as the water cools. Commons will be far more selective about water temp but that's not important in this thread. Larger chub specimens consume virtually anything that lands on the surface. Seems to me - soft fish - sea fish pieces common to the river drainage system should be super for chub. I Can't understand why I don't see more comments on freelining or at least slack line rigs for chub. I know they have a reputation for being spooky, but that is a presentation issue not especially related to the rig itself. WITHOUT experience I would hazard a guess static would the worst possible choice in a river. Of course, I also suspect we reel and recast far more frequently on this side of the pond
  23. Tigger, I WELCOME with baited breath your "reportable" sessions. A couple observations - - - is that bait artificial (not like you?) - and - for heavens sake a new net which must make you at least a dozen. All the fish look in great shape, last one may be a bit roughed up Phone
  24. ALL, cut and paste """"P-51D, was powered by the Packard V-1650-7, a license-built version of the two-speed two-stage-supercharged Merlin 66.[ROLLS ROYCE] The Packard V-1650 was a version of the Merlin built in the United States. Production ceased in 1950 after a total of almost 150,000 engines had been delivered. """ I'm amazed there were that many - 150,000 My father drove PACKARD automobiles. Our last, a 1952, weighed in at around 8000lbs (my guess). Phone
  25. All, before it bursts in to an all out disagreement - - - for the record my post is 100% cut and paste. If I had guessed I would have said the P-51 MUSTANG Phone
