  1. lol 50 glow sticks for £2.99. Better than payin a quid for two!
  2. close seasons only about keeping the riff raff away from the gentry while they fly fish anyway
  3. lol i thought this was going to a dbl figure rainbow trout!
  4. yea thats what i thought, it does look to only be between four of them which all have ridiculous votes and the rest have a big fat 0. I didnt vote, dont think its very fair!
  5. Cheers Steve, i'll try that next time! The sun is actually out full blast here and its pretty hot, might wander a bank for an hour later and see if i cant see any sun chasers!
  6. yea let me know what kind of gear your intending to fish with (float, feeder, carp etc) and i'll give ya some ideas.
  7. Surface fishing for carp in the summer takes up a good deal of my time, for me its one of the most exciting ways to fish. I take; Rod & Reel Net & Mat Tackle Bag Bucket of Pellets & Catty Superglue VASELINE! I always use a controller float rather than a bubble. You can cast them further and you have more control over them. Bubble floats tend to be blown about quite a bit even in a light breeze. When rigging up my hook length will be about 4-5ft long to keep as far away from the float as possible. The rig is dead simple, it goes maker float, stop knot, 4-5ft of line and a size 8 hook. I then grease the line from the stop to hook with vaseline. This helps it float and helps keep the rig up in the water. I then take a 12 or a 14mm floating pellet and cut a small groove across the middle of the so the shank of the hook can sit inside it. I then glue the pellet to the hook with bend curving below the pellet, not around it. With decent superglue it should only take a minute or so to dry rock solid. With the rig setup you can now go find some fish. Find the fish. get a few handfulls of pellets to them and if they start taking them get your hookbait in the middle of em. Never watch the float unless your really cant see the hookbait. I never take my eye off the pellet. Too many times in the past ive looked away just for a second only to turn back and wonder which pellet is mine and if its been taken, often when its too late. If its going to be taken, it generally wont be long! Be ready, a surface take can be powerful and exciting, keep hold of that rod!
  8. yea John makes a good point, sometimes making things look natural and rugged works best. I even shave my boilies these days.
  9. get ur meat, cube it, roll it in something nice like curry powder or cinamon (experiment) and then flash fry it to seal it and make it a bit tougher. Also if you can, hair rig it, dont hook it.
  10. theres a reser near me called Coombs with some nice pike in it and some decent carp as well. That used to be club owned but is now free.
  11. no its a trickle really only a few inches deep. There was a mention of small brook trout in the past but these were on the otherside where it flows out which again is nowhere near big enough for anything over a few ounce to get through.
  12. yea im hoping that if i keep the numbers limited and make sure everyone is only 1 degree of seperation from myself then i can manage it much easier. Im also toying with the idea of limiting the number who can fish in a day and that you have to give me a call when your going down to book on/let me know. I wont however be being lenient with rule breakers just because i know them. Im going to take very good care of this place and i'd like to think the people who i invite to join me will do the same. If you dont respect the place or what im trying to do they'll be off, but im not gona go gettin medieval on anyone! Yes, there is absoloutley no need to feed the fish, they have been there for a long time. Before we fished it the other week the farmer was saying he hadnt seen anyone since last summer, so there not feeding on free offerings, its all natural. The pond is fed by a natural stream so it always has fresh oxygentated water pumping into and trickling out of the other side. @Renrag, ive dug out an old reverse periscope so i can look under the water as well the wetsuit an mask! @Dean, i will get some pictures but not until everything has been finalised, i dont want someone recognising it and poaching it from!
  13. I want to sort of assure people that i will be doing this properly. Im not just getting the pond then filling it with people to make money off the fish like some pimp! Im going to be doing my research and learn as much as i can. I will do a proper fish survey (i'd like to know if anything else is in there for a start!) at some point and after talking last night and am even toying with the idea of not fishing it for the first year while we get things sorted. This is a learning experience for me but im no idiot and i wont be taking things for granted. At the end of the day i want to make this work for a long time and im in no rush to ruin anything. Keep it coming guys!
  14. yea theres always one, maths can ruin everything and mean nothing but again thanks! You cant honestly expect anyone to go by that equation, to me it means nothing and not through ignorance, more experince. But seriously, iam taking everything on board, even the negative.
  15. Cheers mate, yea i kinda like that analogy. Everyone who wants to join needs to be at least a friend of a friend of mine (for now) and we can easily achieve the numbers like that i reckon, and its going to keep it nice an personal. We've got about 15 ppl who are, i wont say "on-board" but are interested and its only been a few days! That means after a few months i'll have made some new fishing friends and hopefully they'll always be a familiar face on the pond. You never know, this could lead to bigger and better things, we've all got to start (and learn) somewhere! Im sure we could arrange something for all interested one day!
  16. http://www.wholesalecarpers.co.uk/ not after anything, just thought id share
  17. the majority is already fenced off apart from one side which is just an open bank as that is where you approach from. Were going to see the solicitor on Monday. Im thinking though, can anyone give me a heads up of what i should be making sure is definetly in there, right of acccess, length of lease, ability to make changes etc. Do i need to protect myself from anything farmer related? I need to be 100% sure on this before i do anything, im not going to be leaving myself open to anything. Also, i know i could have a consultation with a solictor, but at silly money an hour, i'd like to be as well "armed" as possible. Once we've got the legal stuff done (and ive read me books!) we'll start having a look at what we want to do with the water in more detail. I think i might start a blog for anyone who's interested. Eeeee its bloody exciting!
  18. ha ive ordered one now Andy, let you know what its like. Memory foam though, gota be a winner!
  19. yea ive never even considered day ticket, im looking to create something a bit more personal. The friends syndicate/club/group of lads is the option were gona go with. Been an seen the farmer this morning, talked money and what we'd like to do and about getting a contract drawn up which is he's happy about. So its a bloody go'er! I like the idea of the BBQ thing and day hire and it did get me thinking about corporate days! We do a lot of clay shoots for corporate days and team building, spot of good fishing and food would probably go down well, but this is in the way off yet. Again, thanks for the encouragement guys, you've sped this up a hell of a lot! And to all you nay sayers ive got two words, "comee onnnnnnn" Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. eeee look at this beaut! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00453IZ9Q/ref=...ASIN=B00453IZ9Q or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gear-Comfort-Zone-...pd_sim_sbs_sg_1 You can never have too much padding!
  21. I'd of loved to of been at the Fish In but unfortunatley i'll be in Germany. But after looking at the Wingham, (and the price!) im tempted to cancel Germany haha. Off to see the farmer soon!
  22. Yeah the Chub S-Plus is a winner! My summer night session home of choice!
