With you on that one Sir, the original silver Epix are a far better reel than the Epix Pro ( apart from their flakey paint but I like a nice 'patina' on my reels ), think that the latter got a few tame reviews by some'names' and hence the greater popularity of the Pro's. The originals were a better quality build and had all alloy spools and a handy fold down handle rather than the graphite hybrid spools and unscrewing handle of the Pros.

How about constructing a trace from a high abrasion braid material like Kryston Quicksilver. Won't have the low visibility advantages of fluoro but won't be as stiff as wire. I know this is being used in a well-known Zander water which also contains Pike with few problems.

Love my pins because.........I've yet to find a drag system as efficient and accurate as my stubby thumb.
