  1. Tell me about it, its just happened to me! The pond is about 9 years old and the liner is leaking so i have had to empty the pond and drag the liner out. My fish are now on holiday in my mates pond whilst i get the chance to fit a new moulded pond. I aint using a liner again.
  2. Its just over 2 years ago that John passed away. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/John-El....html&st=70
  3. A cheap and cheerfull Shakespear light specimen rod. This 2 piece 10 foot fibreglass through action rod cost me £20 brand new 28 years ago and is a fantastic carp stalking rod. Its a nice light rod and being a 10 foot rod is ideal for freelining bread crust in the margins. Ive got more expensive carp rods but this is my fave, its very forgiving and as a superb soft c action Ive tried to find another on Ebay as a back up with no joy.
  4. I was deep in thought and needed to weigh up my reply with deep consideration Actually i was googling something and my old post came up so i decided to add a short reply. I may add another in 5 years time.
  5. The Dyke is actually a beck called Waithe beck and ive had Dace, chub, perch, rudd, brown trout and eels from this venue. Makes a nice change from fishing holes in the ground.
  6. Ive not been fishing in ages as i got fed up with dragging a car full of tackle around and fishing the same old holes in the ground. In my youth when i lived in west Yorkshire i enjoyed fishing the river Dearn which was a small river that was best fished with the wandering approach. Near where i live now in Lincolnshire ive noticed a small beck and seen the odd Angler fishing it. Yesterday i rode my mountain bike about 3 miles to check out a stream/beck near me that runs into louth canal. I used to have a 10 speed racer and it was so easy to ride with minimum effort. But i bought a mountain for health reasons and boy do they take some riding, if you stop peddling they just about stop unless going down a steep hill. When i got home i was well panting . Anyway back to the fishing, i had a good look at it and saw a few pegs that might hold a a few dace. So i went to the local tackle shop and got half a pint of maggots and set a telescopic rod up for thursdays session. Well thursday morning was windy with a touch of rain so i waited till after dinner and finally set off (in the car!) to see if i could catch anything. I told myself if i cought 3 dace i would be happy and if i cought a chub or a trout it would make my day, i knew chublets were in there but i doubted trout would be. On arrival i knew it wasent going to be easy due to blustery conditions. Second trot down and i got cought up in a bramble bash overhanging the water and lost my float that Duncan fairley made me a few years back, boy was i gutted. Set up again and after a few trots i bumped a fish off. I decided to go for a walk up the beck looking for a deepish quiet spot with a steady pace and depth. Alas i dident find an ideal swim but tried a few and was getting bites but a stumpy telescopic rod and blustery wind made it hard to hit bites. I then saw this swim and decided to give it a few trots. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/mal.../IMG00004-1.jpg Second trot down i had a good bite and at last a fish on the bank. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/mal.../IMG00001-3.jpg A welcome Dace so i wasent waterlicked. A few more trots and i had another good bite and i thought hey up this feels better. Well when i saw it i felt like that Charles Rangeley-Wilson chap when he went on the quest to catch a trout in london. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/mal.../IMG00005-2.jpg I was well chuffed and if i dident catch anything else i was a happty man. I did catch a few more Dace but gave up after a couple of hours due to the wind getting up and it getting harder to controle my float. So i went home well pleased and look forward to fishing there again when its sunny and calm. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/maltyke/IMG00006.jpg More pics of the beck. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/maltyke/IMG00023.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/maltyke/IMG00031.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/maltyke/IMG00016.jpg
  7. Just seen this Bok. The pond in Tetney does not have a club, its in Tetney village down inghams road and not easy to find. Membership is expensive and you can only fish one rod but its a good fishery. There are ponds at Tetney lock that i think are run by a Angling club. Dont bother with the Bullrushes pond on the way to Tetney past the garage, its a wind tunnel and too near the road for peaceful fishing.
  8. I fished Croxby pond years ago when it was a private trout fishery. It also had huge rudd in and some big carp. Alas it was fly fishing only. I know Richard walker fished it many a year ago. I dont know what fishery it is now or who owns the rights to the fishing. Im thinking of joining the pond in the middle of a plantation at Barnolby le Beck next year. As any members of AN fished it before? I too fancy the bain but everytime ive fished it in Horncastle near the supermarket ive only had small roach.
  9. And all the dogs that jump in your swim and the owners let em! Ive fished it twice and cought a few small perch.
  10. well i never Steve. I saw you catch your first carp but obviously dident know it was you. Me and Tom was plauged by gudgeon and as you noticed in the end we moved. Alas we moved onto more gudgeon and at 2.30pm i decided i had had inough. I was a tad dissapointed in the venue but ill give it another go as it looks nice and maybe i got my tactics and bait wrong. I fished pellet over loosefeed pellets and groundbait and also maggot. The owner said it hadent fished well the last 2 days so i dident expect much. Tom had a small tench and lost a carp on worm due to a iffy knot.............ahh youth and there slap happy ways lol. I really liked the look of the peg by the island and really thought i would have cought more. Im working this weekend so it will be another week or so before i wet a line. Have you heard of fishsim steve?
  11. I think ill try the joy of koi tomorrow, Tom is coming along and my friend from Wakefield may make the trip over too. Just going to see if its on Google earth. See you tomorrow steve if you make it down. Mal
  12. Happy Birthday Kleinboet. Hope you had a good un.
  13. Steve, how do you rate Joy of Koi compared with the farm pond? Ive looked at the website for joy of koi and it looks like it could be a nice place to fish. No waiting list for the pond at Tetney, i live 2 mins away and i know the owner. Its down Inghams road just of westlands ave and can be hard to find as its well back from the road and as no signs to it. Ill show you where it is one day if your serious on joining. Mal.
  14. Hi Steve, no that was not me at farm ponds on saturday, that would have been Tom my next door neigbour. Im 49 and Tom is 16! I used to be a member of Thoresby bridge about 4 years ago but found it was filled with stunted roach. You could get some nice carp if you went stalking with bread on a evening. Yes im a member of the private ponds with the fly pond at the front, alas ill not be joining it again as its proved to be a bit of a letdown this year. Ill be fishing cheapside farm ponds this saturday all being well. Check out my Tetney pond diary from last year. http://www1.freewebs.com/carcrashes2006/ty...ponddiaries.htm Ive not fished Bradley pond but have checked it out and i was put off by a group bivvied up sat drinking larger and not really fishing! I may give it a bash next year. Im up for a days fishing especially if you fancy a trip to the trent for some barbel bashing. If i join Tetney pond next year ill guest you for a day. Thanks for the joy of koi pond info, ill give it a go. Regards, Mal (Tyke)
  15. Hi Steve, welcome back to the wonderful world of Angling. I live in Tetney and have fished cheapside farm pond which i found a very enjoyable venue. I always threaten to fish Tetney lock in the winter months but never seem to get round to it. When i have fished it ive always struggled to catch any decent sized fish. This year ive been fishing North thoresby fisheries but they have fished poorly and i suspect a lot of the bigger carp have been netted out. The "joy of koi" pond in nth somercoates sounds interesting, do you have a web addy or info on how to find it? Im thinking of fishing the Bain at Coningsby for some of the big chub that resides there. Have you bought the book fish it! Lincolnshire by Chris Keeling, its a very handy book to have for day ticket waters. there is a cracking pond in Tetney but alas its membership only and £170 a year but its a very scenic place and stuffed with fish. Some years i join but its a tad too easy so other years i do day ticket waters for a change.
  16. Very sad news indeed, ive also read both her books and found them very moving . My thoughts are with her family and friends. R.I.P Jane.

  18. I reckon they ought to pull the troops out and leave em to it. Inough British and American lives have been lost in that forsaken country.

  22. I believe in father christmas by Greg Lake always makes me tingle and feel all christmassy I believe in father christmas by Greg Lake always makes me tingle and feel all christmassy
  23. Just get out there and get plenty of fishing in. As you fish you will find you have questions you would like answering, remember them and ask them when your on the forum again. Then on each fishing session you will learn a bit more. Books and videos/dvds can help the beginner but you cant beat going fishing with another experienced Angler . Enjoy your fishing neilfaith
