  1. Thanks for that DavidP. It's very early days as far as the job goes but didn't know anything about the residency rules. There is supposed to be accomodation provided (it's for a Teaching Deputy Headship) so I don't know if that has any bearing on our elegibility....I really don't fancy this move at the moment and the loss of my fishing here in Yorkshire really will influence my decision to move if it ever looks like the job is on.
  2. Is there any...???? My wife is thinking about taking a job there but the (possible) lack of any Coarse Fishing is giving me serious doubts. Still there's the Sea Fishing I suppose.....
  3. quote: In your shoes I'd expect a visit soon from the venerable Mr William, and woe betide you if you have also failed to buy a shotgun licence (5 year gaol minimum from now on). Aren't you also supposed to keep a shotgun in some sort of secure cabinet and not just 'by the back door'?
  4. I've used them infrequently and have never caught....Baits can be a confidence thing though so if they work for you or you fancy giving them a go, go for it......
  5. I Snapped the tip off my Greyflex this morning on the Wharfe when my leader got snagged up on a Hawthorne tree.....Has anyone had to use the Greys Unconditional Lifetime replacement warranty? I hope they're good for their word...I know the Reddington warranty allows a dealer to swap one for one at his shop but I expect Greys will want the sorry remains posting to them..... Where did I put that warranty certificate....??
  6. quote: Haven't been called "dude" since the '60s. Very much 'In Vogue' around here at the mo'....
  7. Excellent.....thanks Gray/Nick.....Here goes..!!
  8. quote: i to have never been asked for a licence so like ian bass i do not bother to buy them and find the most difficult swims to get to so that i do not get bothered by any balifs that are coming round. And if i cannot find any were suitable then i sit on my boat in the middle of the river were the balifs cannot get to me . I'll wager that you've no problem with filling your freezer with out of season Brownies caught on the float too (see Fly Fishing Forum)
  9. Nugg, Sorry matey, comments not intended at you they were just on the back of my reply to your last post.....badly worded I concede. Sorry about the confusion
  10. I'm confused......My wife is from Hartlepool and displays exactly the same tendancies......and she gets really upset for some reason when I call her a cow......!!!
  11. quote: Just a thought on this, but don't you actually have to be fishing, what's to say that you could have been selling the rod or smothing, o.k. you could of had a box full of tackle but that doesn't need to be licenced, you could of had bank sticks in and such, but unless you are actually fishing can they ask for a licence. Or maybe this chap wasn't actually an E.A. bailiff. I've had mine checked by a Bailiff when carrying unmade up tackle to a reservoir, which I believe the Bailiff has every right to do. I cannot believe that there are some 'fisherman' around who still do not appreciate or acknowledge what the EA do for our waterways. As has already been mentioned I too hope that the proverbial hits the fan for you and you get everything you deserve.
  12. Excellent ploy that Chris.....I'll be using that one from now on.
  13. They are the 4 eyelet Field Boots....To qualify what I meant....When I first bought them I soon noticed that they were not at all waterproof. A trip across a wet grass meadow would every time result in wet feet (and I don't mean standing in the 3" of water that Skeetex mean). Inspection of the boots for damage/undone seams etc. always showed nothing wrong with the manufacture etc. They seem well put together. To be fair to the boots they are very comfortable and warm (in the dry), good for mobile fishing, so I've bought myself a pair of 'Porelle Dries' waterproof socks (similar to Sealskinz) and this combination makes them pretty much ideal for my type of fishing...my gripe though is that the advertisements for them promised more.....but it's not the first time I've been suckered by fishing tackle adverts......!!
  14. Welcome back.....Was it Christmas?
  15. Paying 'on-line' was good, this is better....!
  16. I'll just pop around to the Co-op and get the ingredients then.........
  17. Where do you buy yours from Bradford?
  18. I'm not too sure about this one either.....
  19. Don't buy the Skeetex ones, I'm not impressed with mine at all.
  20. Tell me about it Elton......Still not fully recovered from the first big hangover, coupled with being on call between Christmas and the new year (plus last night as well) and a five month old Daughter with a cold....I'm bloody knackered. Roll on my sleep in on Saturday morning.
  21. Just been given a "Upstream Nymphing and North Country Spiders" from his Essential Skills series for Chrimbo. Trouble is I already have this title, does anyone fancy swapping this for any of the others in the series?
  22. Good point Nickinthenorth, forgot that BT still operate in the stone age.......
  23. Have you had a look at ADSL services? Faster than ISDN but don't know how much the service providers charge for installation etc.
