i have been using 18lb power carp for about 2 seasons now haven't had any problems just remember to tie your knots carefully and wet them when tightening them down, as for casting i get about 100 to 120 yards no problem using a 2.5 oz lead . good luck and shop around for a good deal on bulk spools i got 1000 metres for £10. inc P&P on EBay
