  1. Yaay, Happy Birthday Dave, hope you have a good one. Not too much Hierbas Mind
  2. Or was it co incidental with this ? http://newslite.tv/2011/06/28/asteroid-201...izzed-past.html A slump wouldn't have caused the static build up. I've experienced tidal surges like that before. I was fishing at Lyme Regis when the harbour suddenly filled up with water & then just as quickly drained away again.
  3. Thats great Andy, thanks for sharing.
  4. Seen some bad attacks by scale insects as well this year on Acers. Cool weather conditions for the time of year, had 3 blight alerts for Dorset already, wouldn't normally expect that till August. Bring back summer.
  5. Light iron is about 6-9p a kilo, cast iron even more. I save all mine up, including the tins you'd normally put out for recycling, and go down the scrappy a few times a year. Just got the kettle detector out, kids have had both batteries out of it Planning on doing some bits of the river, down stream from Taunton. Any river that has been through a big town is worth doing.
  6. Hi Pollik, Not fished that side of the channel, but on the south side i've used a "french pier rig" to fish in the gulleys between the rocks at high tide. You don't retrieve like a lure, the 4oz weight sits on the bottom then a long trace has 2 booms on it, so the bait is suspended in mid water. It works well for bass, pollack & mackerell, they swim up the gulley & see a tasty morsel in front of them & hit it.
  7. Wow, that piece of Halibut is good enough for Jehovah !

That looked like a cracking day out Snatcher. Would you mind if I copy this thread to our Gardening forum, we have a member who lives on The Isle of Man whom I sure would be interested?
  10. I don't know but i'd sure as hell like to price for some work on their house
  11. Crucifiction is too good for them.
  12. A problem shared Barry.... And thanks to Chris also, I hate to say this but looking at Mums condition now and knowing what she was like before, I do wonder if she'd be better off out of it. One of the last things she managed to communicate was that it was only going to get worse. Can you imagine being stuck motionless, relying on other people to do everything, even the most basic functions, for you. It must be a living hell. You can't even kill yourself when you've got that bad. Sorry Barry, thats probably not helping you and your situation. But there is a time to go for all of us, just because medical tech has got that good, do they have the right to keep us all going when we are so obviously past our use by date just because they can ? This wouldn't have been an issue 100 years ago, but things have moved on so quickly.
  13. Me too. Whats the betting its a basking shark with a tescos bag stuck on its fin.
  14. Thats a good Idea, the cockerel will look out for them (amongst other things ) I've had a few labourers witth eyes like that.
  15. Hi Mr M, Don't think it will put them off laying but it will certainly put them on their guard a lot. Mine could spot a Buzzard a mile away & looked very worried.
  16. "California Diver on a Mission to Find Bin Laden's ody on the Sea Floor" Bin Laden had an Ody ? Hope that wasn't Bill.
  17. Hey Barry, Emapthy coming out to you there my friend. Mother in law is back at home now, as the care home had taken it upon themselves to stop feeding and giving her drinks. That was a year ago. She Can't move except for her eyes now, a progressively worsening brain thing. While I don't know about the financial side, my sister in law deals with that, i'm sure the nhs have not got any fingers in her house, which is part owned by her other, other daughter. Its a full time job caring for her on my Sis's part. The Carers also come in at least 4 times a day to help with the nescessary bodily functions(she also has a catheter and a feeding tube) getting her up for the day, moving her from chair to wheelchair & putting her to bed. Its a pretty busy house with all this going on & we're used to nearly always having other people in the house (I mostly live with my Sister in Law) Mother in Law goes into respite care every month or so, to give the family a break as it can make you get to the point of tearing your hair out when someone is constantly moaning & you've done everything you can think of but you don't know where its hurting them. I'm amazed at my Sister in laws resolve, when i'm looking after her on my own, I really don't know what to do sometimes & i'm usually glad when the carers turn up. Hope some of that helps, its no easy task and there are no easy answers. Best Wishes, Zig
  18. Blimey He says "Whats wrong darling ?" He Means "What meaningless, self induced emotional crisis are you putting yourself through now ?"
  19. He's been very busy since getting the allotment. I must admit I spend more time growing veg than fishing these days. Did manage a boat trip a few weeks back, had a bass, herring, mackerel, pollack and a launce.
