    Warning!

Just got this dodgy email, which judging by the pretty poor english, seems to be the classic scam type. Be on your guard if you receive something similar. 3. I dont think Canon or Nikon will be going bust just yet
  4. All of JK's plus sharpness!
  5. I think your maybe getting actual photo pixel dimensions - length and width, and DPI mixed up Colin?
  6. I think it's just my work screen. Just retried to save them using diFferent options - save as & save as JPEG and they all look the same. Had a look at the one above and it looks much better on my home PC - more like the original, than it does on my work pc.
  7. Phew, thanks Steve.....looks like I'm in the clear though!
  8. Thanks everyone. Not sure why, but the web versions look alot more bland and desaturated compared to the originals ones? For instance, I have an A4 print here of No.2 and it's got a lovely warm sky and much warmer reflection on the water. I didnt do anything different except resize (image>size) in photoshop to 850pix. Something to do with web colours perhaps?
  9. Gorgeous.........supurb colours !!
  10. Managed to finish work early today and get out and get some pics of the gales, which are set to stay for a few days. It was absolutely howling down there and really hard to keep sea spray off the front of the lens, I found a bit of loo paper was much better at cleaning it off than a lens cloth which just tended to smear the wet everywhere:-
  11. No worries. BTW, you might need to cut and paste all that code into a new notepad document and save it as XXXXX.jsx to create the script file.
  12. If anyone else is interested, i just posted the photoshop script that i use onto my site for a mate to use - it watermarks (of sorts) and automatically inserts the EXIF info for you. Here's the post from the other site with the details:- "Here's a link to the script:- http://www.digitaljersey.co.uk/Canon.jsx You need to pop it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Scripts When you run it, you just go files/scripts and select it. You do need to run it on the resized pic though - about 800pix You might also just need to edit the lenses in it as well to whatever you use."
  13. Whats up Wiggley? I use the 580EX.
  14. I've got an udder idea, I'll just have to go out and and get the shot of the century to get you all back!
  15. Ah, me not thinking again.....i was thinking along the lines of fauna! Anyway, there's grass and bushes in that pic!
  16. Well I was going to pop this one in the current comp - unfortunately shot about 12 hours too early! Anyhow, thought you all might like a look anyway:-

    Mullet

I wasn't far behind you - only 1 for me last year:-
  18. I spent the afternoon yesterday cleaning my boat and there were lots of sizeable thick lipped (one was very large indeed). I had taken half a loaf to feed them but they seemed to totally ignore it. I took a walk later on though and saw numerous mullet feeding off the algae on the boat hulls. Sea temp here has just broken the magic 10 degree mark - 10.2 today. I'd better dust down the rods, paint some hooks and put some new line on!
  19. Looks like it's going to need scaffolding poles rather than a tripod to hold that puppy up!
  20. Probably not really common knowledge (maybe it is - I'm usually the last to know!), but if your looking for cheap lenses it might be worth having a look at some of the 2nd hand Carl Zeiss lenses that are about. I came across a mint Carl Zeiss Planar T 50mm F1.4 for £90 off fleabay, and £10 for an Zeiss/Canon adaptor. OK, so the lens hasn't got AF and can only be used in Manual/AV/TV, but I only ever use these anyway. Many of the reviews say it's one of the sharpest lenses ever made for 35mm......we shall see! I've been looking at some of the other lenses about - seen an immaculate Zeiss 135mm F3.5 Sonnar - got a bid in at £1 so far! Anyhow, i'll report back when I receive the 50mm and post some samples!
  21. I have a solution for that one!!! I recently said to my Mrs that I needed a new one, which was met with the obligatory "do you really need one - you've got one already haven't you?"..... "well yes, but I need something alot lighter for when I need to walk far" The following Sunday we went out for our usual sunday afternoon walk............"dont mind caring my tripod do you babe"........ 5 seconds later "it's too heavy for me to carry".........."well there you go then!!!!" Next day, had a new carbon tripod and head on the way!

    Mullet

Hi All Has anyone else seen anything of this years mullet yet? I checked my boat at the weekend and there was a group of 8-10 large thick lipped in the marina. Water temp here is 9.9 degrees!! Looks like it might be worth a go at cracking the rods out soon!
