  1. Good luck Elton and tania, talk to you when the hand heals and you can keep your eyes open again.
  2. hi all if you whatch fish in a tank that needs cleaning out you will see them spending an inordinate ammount of time gulping from the top, this is because of lack of oxagen in the water,so this theory has to be favorite. by the way Fishing on new years eve Dunk? you need to get out more mate,(socially i mean).
  3. Hi all, I caught a couple of lads last week fishing my local river(the calder)in west yorks, when i pointed out that it was closed season they told me it was none of my buisness and that they were on private land (owned by a farmer)and that the river did not belong to any club or private syndicate so f**K off. appart from drowning the B******S can anyone suggest a reasonable way of dealing with this as they said they did not recognise the close season on this stretch and would be carrying on regardless. tight lines. Bigman.
  4. Hi all, just used my second umbrella from askari for the first time and it's totally collapsed just like the first one after one use also, guess which site i won't be using any more.
  5. Den, ok lets agree to dissagree, though i still believe that profit margins should be cut before wages. your last line implies BNP,each to their own as far as i'm concerned mate, on the other hand agree with one mr B.Connolly that anyone with aspirations to become a member of parliment should automatically be barred for life from ever becoming one.
  6. Hi all, Poldark, you are very wrong mate,i could bang on for hours but i'll try to make a few relevant points. a british football making factory closed because they couldn't compete with the factory in india where several 6 year olds were working 14 hour shifts. a friend of mine would not consider any industrial action on behalf of her fellow workers because she thought that as a manual worker that she had no right to any sort of parity with her higher paid professional co-workers. several of my close friends who i considered had a fantastic wage compared to me(a lowly farm worker)are now dead or dieing of silicosis because they followed their fathers down the pit. i went to a convention as a health and safety rep and a guest speaker from a blue chip company said that they had managed to reduce accidents in the workplace and the death toll had been brought down from 20+ to just 5 and he hoped that the following year it would be reduced to just 1,(not him we hope). my grandfather was killed when a pit roof collapsed on him and my grandma did not get a penny in compensation. if you ever get a chance to read a book called the" ragged trousered philanthropist" please read it. we must never say reduce the workers conditions and pay, everyone is entitled to what they get. my ex employer ,who lives on Jersey for tax reasons moved a ladder out of his way with his brand new bently continental causing hundreds of pounds of paintwork damage and threatened to close his factory down because the health and safety exec had served an improvement order on a dangerous machine. i am not a millitant or an acctivist, but i think everyone has the right to be treated fairly and not downtrodden on the whims of the so called better off. i appoligise if i lost the thread a bit but i am passionate about treating people fair, this is not a rehersal and we only get one shot at life.
  7. how about CONTRACEPTIVES.!!!!!!!!!!

  9. hi onions, yes it's true you ladies don't have all the fun on the big day,i can close my eyes and even now remember the pain as she crushed my hand like it was paper,i can remember thinking, thank god it's me bloody hand, and then the language which i never new she new blaming me for her condition(the nerve)she told me you couldn't get pregnant stood up.
  10. Well done little onions, days like that can be few and far between so you must make the most of the chances you get. good luck, good health and as we say up north, top hoyle.

  12. thanks for the tips,is tap water really considered to be so bad?. also how long would you keep frozen groundbait?.
  13. yes i agree with Elton Chris, the numbers up here in yorkshire have been decimated by mink, released by animal rights groups, and as the article mentioned ignorance by people who think they are rats,i for one hope the scheme goes well as voles are a good indication of a healthy river.
  14. Hi all, can anyone tell me if i can make up quantities of groundbait and freeze it,is it important whether i use ordinary water or can i use say hemp juice? is it ok to mix and freeze my own stuff or can i only freeze pre prepared mix?
  15. yes Elton you are stuck with it for awhile, about 18 ruddy years mate so welcome to hell, wait till the cravings and tantrums start(and thats just you)then the recriminations then the"you did this to me you bas***d" then joy of joys its time, gas and air deep breathing, epidural, yes you'll wish you had the lot when she's crushing your hand like balsawood, then you screaming it's a boy it's a boy and the nurse saying no sir that's the umbilicle cord. tell you what though Elton, it's all very very very worth it. good luck .
  16. hello onions, sitting in a darkened room and contemplating your navel may well seem like blessed relief but if by some miracle i had managed 24 hours of quality time especially after the ordeal you've just been through would be as follows:1.00pm light lunch in local pub,3.30pm home afternoon nap ,7.30 candlelight dinner, theatre (very optional) but you sound like you deserve the full monty(pardon the expression) fool northener you know, than home take champers out of fridge retire to bedroom and see what comes up . good luck.
  17. Hi onions, tell you what works with mine,i tell my daughter who is 14 going on 23 that i'm going in the bath and i hope that they won't be embarrased by the sight of HOMER in his underware when i get out, what works for girls should work for boys,at least if he's not embarrased your daughter should be. good luck
  18. Hi newt, sorry to see you have the neighbors from hell,i'm glad you are able to see the funny side of things, i thought some of the pics were hilarious but i don't suppose you do. i hope things work out ok and you get rid of them, remember there's ALWAYS someone worse off, my neighbour and good friend recently had his mother murdered by his SISTER who was hoping for a claim of the insurance money,i kid you not. good luck and good health. Bigman.

  21. Hi all, i was reading about using scallded pellet and sweetcorn in the method feeder for bream, can anyone tell me what sort of pellet this mighnt be and is it mixed with groundbait and can i put different flavours in and can i use different hookbaits.
  22. Hi all, looks like i'm going to be in a minority but i think that although rex can handle the fish a bit rough he is very passionate about his sport and it is obvious that he cares intensly about the environment, and he has inspired thousands of kids to go fishing, i know this because i am the father of one of them. so lets not be too hard on the bearded burbler eh.
  23. Hi all, i was reading a posting on a local website about a place near me called Nostel Priory near Wakefield, the lad said that a rather blunt bailif had told him that thay were going to lime the water to keep down the weed, he said that the week after he saw three dead good sized pike and a couple of bream and wondered if it was down to this prat throwing lime in by the bucketfull. any thoughts or info on this practice?. Bigman.
