  1. It would be wonderful, and I think it could be taken one step further. There a lot of disabled people who are of the impression that the would be no good at the sport, this would be an opportunity for them to try!!
  2. Thanks for those answers, but as was mentioned earlier, these guy want to boat on STILL waters. Is it only the larger waters that are in danger or are ALL waters liable to have this abomination happen to them?
  3. Sorry, but I am going to bang on a bit about this. If you work out that a day ticket will bring in between £1200 - £5000 per year. Which canoe organisation is going to pay this (or more!) for a SMALL stretch of still water when there are loads of navigable rivers available FREE all over England.
  4. I have french toast made from eggs, milk and sugar yum yum.
  5. I don't know about that. Check to see the percentage of the population who fish as against those who like to mess about in canoes.
  6. Wow! This looks like it could run and run. But think about this, WE (the anglers) pay a still water to fish it, whether by day ticket or syndicate, and if we DEMAND a 60 or 70% reduction in "rent" due to the canoeists, and the landowners start complaining to the goverment, demanding compensation, I think the government would cave in.
  7. I have just heard on the news that Ironbridge gorge is in danger of collapsing. Where is OUR lottery money? They can give copious ammounts of money to refurbish the opera house (which I will never use, and I suppose most of you will never use either) for the 'toffs'. Surely it is our money to use in a case like this? What do think?
  8. Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of fishing, and to the AN forum. You have entered a world where all you want to do is beat your PB (personal best). A word of warning! - it can become obsessive and you could end up like us!!
  9. ELTON - If he lives near me (Cheltenham) I have a whole library of angling books which he can borrow some if he wishes
  10. Looking through Anglers Mail of the 8/11 I notice on the last page the "Editor's End Piece" about Fishathon 2004. It would appear to me that, whilst helping the Prostrate Cancer charity, fishing the match is a lottery. They want you to register for £5 and then send a picture of a fish you've caught or a match report with a £20 entry fee and a panel will pick the finalist to fish. Does this sound right to you?
  11. Cheers! That's spot on. I'm disabled and fish alongside able bodied (and beat them sometimes!) and enjoy the cameraderie that all anglers have. I wish the world had it. (the cameraderie)
  12. Phew Elton, What a question!!! I have found that in winter I leave all the 'fancy' baits alone and go down in size of hook (14,16 and, dare I say it..18) and use double or single maggot. I rarely blank, but some catches may be small fish.
  13. Hi Kendo, and welcome. I stayed down there 2 years ago and had a really good time - plenty of fish to catch (mostly on float) but don't enter the competitions, they are a waste of money and valuable fishing time. Enjoy yourself!!!
  14. I have found the answer to cold feet!! keep a watch in charity shops or footware shops for MOONBOOTS!! They have a nice 'grippy' sole and the boots normally have a foam insert which keep ypur feet loveley and warm
  15. Come on lads! I'm twice his age and learn something new everytime I fish. Sure I won't sit and wait for a bite alarm, but would rather read a water and get a big buzz when I catch. BUT, and it's a big BUT, even if I don't catch a fish I have been communing with nature and come back happy. (sorry lads, got carried away)
