  1. Its always been the case of size difference between hook makers. Owner hooks were always marked up a size larger than the norm. It can also be affected by is it a long or short shank hook. These days I tend to stick to a couple of makes so that I'm happy with the sizes. If I have bought what appears a different size I match them with the size of hook already in my boxes.
  2. I was lucky the nest was in the very early stage. A bell like structure approx 1.5in deep with a 1in circumference. Hanging from a shed roof. Strangely It seemed to be being built by 2 wasps, judging by their size both queens.
  3. What chance does any one have these days sorting out problems with the modern car. I've been told there are 28 computers on mine and the upper spec vehicles have 40. Cost of computer diagnostics £65.00 +vat.
  4. Sorry bugie no, there black but if you kept it in a darkened room it would then be camoflaged
  5. Just been in poundland and noticed in the camping section they were selling an open weave kit bag 43cm x50cm with a draw string opening. Looked ideal for drying boilies. Got to be worth risking a squid on.
  6. Are you for real? Any GP or consultant bases his opinion on what he/she is told. So whats the difference? That nurse DID NOT examine my wife and made no reference to any notes etc what so ever. The nurse asked her the question how many attacks which we answered. She saw fit to ignore the reply and make up her own. If she had read the reports or knew enough to know what medication my wife was on he would have known that several were to control these attacks. On being informed she had failed and was now on ES we visited our GP explained that she needed a sick note which was duly given for 3 months. We were also waiting on an appointment to see a consultant for the increased number of attacks my wife was having. This had been done BEFORE we knew anything about the assessment. There are also numerous cases of cancer suffers under going chemo who have been deemed fit to work, after failing the assessment. Then we have cancer suffers with a life expectancy of 6 -12 months being deemed fit for work. Whats your explaination for this then?
  7. My wife had to go for her assessment for ESA. It was completed by a nurse. Eventually she had a phone call to tell her she had failed the medical having gained 0 points. The nurse was told her dizzy/light headed/black out attacks happened up to 3 times a day lasted for up to 24 hours with 3/4 attacks per week. The nurse in her report said one attack a month. Walking! my wife said 30/m. the nurse said 200m. Any surprise she failed? I heard but not confirmed that ATOS have been banned from operating in New Zealand and the USA for corrupt practice. Also that they receive £300, £400 and over £1000 from the government for every person who fails?
  8. Thanks for your reply. That was one thing I was concerned about, underfloor heating. More research I think to see if our floors are suitable.
  9. My question relates to air to water central heating. ie heat exchanger taking heat from out side to inside via a fan/pump/ How good are they? Is the cost saving as good as stated. TIA
  10. Certain treatments by the NHS ? http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/25-000-men--...very-year-.html
  11. How are these fish modified? The brood fish are taken from the Trent and after eggs and sperm are produced there returned to the Trent/
  12. Quite a few authorities have contracts with fuel stations and not their own supply. All the green goddess' were sent to their heaven a few years ago. They were all past the retirement age.
  13. I'd like to point out that under The Petroleum Regulations you are only allowed to store a couple of gallons of petrol at home. Sorry been that long since I dealt with those regs i cant remember the exact figure. So the idiots suggesting we do are in fact encouraging us to break the law. Isnt there a law against that?
  14. A lot depends on which hospital, unfortunately. My wife suffers with several medical complaints. So we have experienced the best and worst. In the last year she had to have a MRI scan we explained that she couldnt lie on her back so after several phone calls and being accused of being awkward they refused to do it. Cue the next hospital after a 5 min discussion no problem. My wife needed a scan by camera both ends. The hospital gave her an enema pack which contains eggs. To which shes allergic. The out come we are not doing it your being awkward. Cue the next hospital, thats not a problem scans carried out.
  15. A great crested grebe. http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/...rebe/index.aspx
  16. It appears that the manufacturer has changed. Its now crivit. The bag does look the same style but colours are different. I have one of the original bags and its the dogs do dahs.
  17. Hold up there tsp is a teaspoon tbs is a table spoon. A biggggggggg difference.
  18. Its probably one of a range produced solely for used tackle under their own name.
  19. Late last year we had 4 domestic rabbits running around the area. problem 1 Finding the right number to ring from the RSPCA web site. problem 2 Actually speaking to some one who was local. Problem 3 There is no local staff. problem 4 Finding a member of staff who was actually bothered. problem 5 After eventually getting some one to respond getting them to be concerned. We were told that responding as they had done was a total waste of resources. The number of rabbits now is one. We do the best we can to feed it. We do not have the means to catch and house the rabbit.
  20. Re pigeons, in actual fact theres only the breast and legs worth considering. Just removing the breasts means no plucking (yes I know there the easiest bird to pluck). My thoughts were perhaps guided by the fact I used to shoot a lot pigeons so any time saving in preparation was taken. Rather than make stock the giblets and legs were thrown in a pan boiled, then legs stripped of there meat and then fed to the dogs. Where I used to shoot there was a large feral pigeon population, surprisingly there was a difference in the flesh the colour and gloss I found unattractive so these to were fed to the dogs.
  21. Why would you want to chop up the pigeons and fill the pie with broken bones? Far better to remove the meat from the breast bone. Its such an easy job. 4 cloves of garlic?? Far to much, one is plenty. 2 hours cooking is far to long for rump steak, if its going to be cooked that long a cheaper cut of beef will do and it will have more fat to help balance the lean pigeon.
  22. The wattage isnt given in the specs. However I have had the chance to talk to a fully qualified electrician. He was surprised with this and said he couldnt see any reason why an extension cord couldnt be used.
  23. That was my first thought to Newt, but the plug is fitted with a 3amp fuse.
  24. My wife uses an electric heat pad for arthritis. In the instructions it states do not use with an extension lead or a multi adaptor plug. Can some on e explain why please.
  25. I will stand to be corrected BUT what your never told is that unless CPR is started seconds after the person collapses its pretty much useless. I have on 2 occasions been in the position of having to give CPR. The first was started minutes after a man collapsed. There were 4 of us all trained in first aid and having the advantage of a resuscitation set. When we handed over to the ambulance crew we were convinced that he was breathing but was DOA. The second was a young girl buried in a trench. I dont know how long she had been there but as soon as I had dug down and found her CPR and resuscitation was started. Again a resus set was used. I have no idea how long I worked on her but I handed her over to the doctors from the hospital who had arrived at the incident. They continued working on her for ages before declaring her dead. I have repeatedly thought through every thing I did some times tearing myself up in grief. I still cant think of any thing else I could have done, I take solace in the fact that the medics thought that there was a chance when they treated her.
