  1. I cant remember the brands but there are at least 2 devices for applying dust shot to line.
  2. Rode Pool used to have a reputation for Tench. I havent lived in the area for a good few years so I'm not up to speed on the fishing. It was a day ticket water when I fished it.
  3. Don't Take men shopping!!! Proof of what can happen if a wife or girlfriend drags her husband or boyfriend along shopping This letter was recently sent by Tescos Head Office to a customer in Oxford: Dear Mrs. Murray, While we thank you for your valued custom and use of the Tesco Loyalty Card, the Manager of our store in Banbury is considering banning you and your family from shopping with us, unless your husband stops his antics. Below is a list of offences over the past few months all verified by our surveillance cameras: 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's trolleys when they weren't looking. 2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to feminine products aisle. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, "Code 3" in housewares..... and watched what happened. 5. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 6. September 15: Set up a tent in the outdoor clothing department and told shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring sausages and a Calor gas stove. 7. September 23: When the Deputy Manager asked if she could help him, he began to cry and asked, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?" 8. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, picked his nose, and ate it. 9. November 10: While appearing to be choosing kitchen knives in the Housewares aisle asked an assistant if he knew where the antidepressants were. 10. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme. 11. December 6: In the kitchenware aisle, practised the "Madonna look" using different size funnels. 12. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed, yelled "PICK ME!" "PICK ME!" 13. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, assumed the foetal position and screamed "NO! NO! It's those voices again. And; last, but not least: 14. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited a while; then yelled, very loudly, "There's no toilet paper in here." Yours sincerely, Charles Brown Store Manager
  4. It seems quite a few drivers can sweet talk the magistrates. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-13277186 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke...dshire-12112226
  5. What type of fishing are you looking for? to be going on with. Theres the Pioneers in Underwood Lane, Crewe Amals Hightown, Nantwich AS, Wheelock AS, Wybunbury., To be honest a visit to the tacle shop in West St/Coppenhall Lane would be a good start.
  6. I have firefox set as my default browser. When I run c cleaner it shows that IE has stored cookies from the sites I visited. Can any one explain why this is happening and if theres a setting I can alter to prevent it? As far as I can tell IE hasnt been started.
  7. I had the unfortunate experience of hospital services Saturday night and Sunday morning. To cut a long story short I was seen by a consultant. Who actually moaned about nurses and doctors being made redundant and the fact that the NHS is now run as a business. I was very surprised to hear him say that my treatment was funded from my GP. This system being in place for a few years. I wasnt able to find out any more.
  8. I was under the impression we dont have one? Wasnt it discussed a few years ago but no one was interested? Having said that count me in.
  9. I hope the work done is better than his spelling
  10. When fishing to hand.... you have to consider where you hold the whip ie 30cms from the butt end. You then have to consider the bend in the whip when landing a fish. Yes I know this will vary with the weight of individual fish. If we add these two together then the line length will be shorter than the whip by 1 - 1.5m. Then theres another factor that seems to be forgotten, the distance from the waters edge you are sitting. So in opinion 10m might be stretching a 6m whip a bit far.
  11. Why not get your neighbour to complain about your wife making to much noise cleaning out a rabbit hutch at 1900hrs. Only took the police 15 mins to attend. It took 15 mins as the nearest station is 8 miles away from us. I assure you this is true.
  12. There are many clubs in and around Stoke. I'd suggest going to Pickering's and Dolphin and asking them. Or if your from another area of the city your local tackle shop.
  13. Slice the block then fry lightly. This will skin the meat. Cube the meat and leave in the sun when fishing this will again put a skin on it. To hook the meat push the hook bend thru the meat twist a 1/4 of a turn then gently pull the hook back. A short piece of grass or a piece of spaghetti in the hook bend will help hold it on.
  14. I to use both methods. Saying that my closed face reel for float fishing has no anti reverse. I started with the old mitchels which had poor clutches so back winding was the only way. I rapped my knuckles so many times on a fast spinning reel handle I soon gave up. With the more modern reels I found over runs to be a problem when back winding. I'm also convinced that by back winding the pressure applied to a fish is inconsistent and not enough pressure is applied. So prolonging the fight.
  15. Many thanks I'll get her to try it. She did mention that a search/tool bar some times didnt down load.
  16. My daughters Dell laptop keeps displaying an error message on start up. STString.dll is missing. I have looked it up on google and it seems that this might be a common problem? However some of the fixes are anti spyware sites and I'm a bit reluctant to open them. Can some one point me to a site or to a fix for this problem please.
  17. Yes Archie has retired and Walkers was the sole outlet for his range of flavours. I know that Archie intended stopping production of the powder additives due to the time consuming effort in making them. I can only assume that Archie has now stopped all production. In reality the production was all done at his home.
  18. Years ago before boilies could be bought. I concocted a paste mix based on puréed bananas and banana milk shake. The glorious 16th dawned and 3 of us started to catch not the intended carp but tench. So much so we ended up scaling down the tackle to match the size of fish. Only one carp did we catch that year amongst what must have been over a hundred tench. Trying to mash fresh bread will result in a hard lump. Why not try the old semolina/ soya flour way. Mash 1,2 or 3 bananas with an egg keep adding the semolina.soya till a paste is formed. Make the paste slightly softer than you would need as it will toughen up as the mix dries out. It can be frozen if to much is made.
  19. I had a tremendous series of raises. Nov 69 2 weeks training rate 2 weeks non operational pay. Dec 69 4 weeks non operational. Jan 70 2 weeks non operational 2 weeks operational. Feb 70 4 weeks operational. In all went from £32 per month to £66 per month
  20. Reading the rules. The use of treble hooks on plugs and spinners is permitted, providing that all hooks are fully de-barbed, a suitable wire trace must be used minimum 18in and 30lb B/S No wire traces to be used apart from when fly or lure fishing, a “pike safe” hook material must be used or mono of minimum 60lb B/S for all traces and rigs. So what is the best trace material then for live/deadbaits? AND can some one explain how to Anglers must be in position of a specimen unhooking mat (minimum 42in or 106cm) and specimen net (minimum 42in or 106cm) plus a set of long nose Forceps for unhooking. I think last year it was announced that pike along with big carp were to be removed from Doddington Hall pool and placed in a smaller water. Doddington is a large lake. There was uproar then about it. So I do wonder where the pike originated from.
  21. A pikes mouth contains an anti- coagulant. So any cut will bleed profusely. As the blood was diluted by lake water it appears thin.
  22. The majority of cheap rods sold by used tackle are fibre glass. Nothing wrong with that other than a weight issue compared to carbon. Having said that if its a rod under 9ft then the weight wont be an issue. I'd be more inclined to buy a higher quality reel. Any reel used for spinning gets abused due to the number of casts made each session
  23. Its brown and clear Dean. The clear being about £1.00 dearer. I've only used the brown and can honestly say I've had no problems whatever. I buy the bulk spools in 6,8.10.12 and 15lb BS
  24. This is a duplicate post please see http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Spinnin...n-t2838390.html For the original posting.
  25. All fixed spool reels have variable winding speed built in. Wind slower or faster. I dont want a fast retrieve for spinning I want a slow retrieve, that can be speeded up just by winding faster. When spinning, a variable sped retrieve is some times required this cant be done easily by a geared speed alteration.
