  1. do you now need a license for charter boats? + i was mullet fishing in almaria and the guarda came down to watch, luckily they never mentioned a license or moved me. (might have been that way cause they saw me return a couple of fish)

wouldn't mind a mullet over 7lbs to actually stay on the hook long enough to get a net under it. a scottish shore 10lb+ bass... converted into english that be about 15lb a decent blue say 60lb plus. sorry Norm i'll have all the rest you don't want. TA
  4. if your going to be trashing about with 1lb+ then go for the 4-10oz as the 4-8 will have a soft tip much like the 1480. personally i wouldn't go for an uptider as the handle is too long but i may be inclined towards the ones with the adjustable butts. Grey's and Abu both do a model. Grey's being Grey's they will tend to be quite stiff which would make working the pirk easier and probably will have enough give in the tip not to rip the hooks. otherwise why not contact Stan at Alba Rods and get him to make you one at your requirements. he uses conoflex blanks so there will be a quality base there?
  5. its the law in ireland for ALL to wear a life jacket when afloat on any craft. + they enforce it with fines.... probably will take the same over here and yes i'm guilty.
  6. Davy, fact of life for up there none of them get it right. suppose it might be something to do with 4 sheep, a dog and a couple of anglers doesn't deserve much effort. like most i tend to look at them all and kind of average it all out.
  7. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...st_weather.html Big improvement for me. lots of details. seems to be someone is listening
  8. or fishing directy into the wind which was 50mph. it was a tad wet.... least i managed a few codlings before i was completely blown off the mark...

    Abu 7000

the black ones had brass end plates rather than the **** they put on the red ones which corroded faster than an old datsun. they also had ball bearings rather than bushes but esentially they were the same reel. the end plates are marked 7000c. i still have both. the c model is black and about 25 years old and is still working perfectly the red one has hardly been out of the box and is starting to corrode.
  10. seems people think this is good news what does it actually mean ? sorry for the ignorance on this.
  11. why all the fuss around cod? we had them years ago and now they are gone. spilt milk. yesterdays news. today is more important. do i start bleating on about tope and bass being all thats cared about etc etc NO. i help out by writing the letters and adding the pressure for what little we have gained. without people wanting to protect bass and now tope we wouldn't have a couple of people on committee's etc etc. from small acorns is the expression. if people concentrated their efforts in helping rather than moaning more would get more done. if a rod fee is reqd then pay it. just make sure the money is directed to our aims. bag limits are a good thing IMHO as i still see idiots taking more than they can handle and some rules to prevent unnecessary slaughter would be a good thing. for those who say fish can be frozen and i have seen pictures of boxes of fillets recently, think how often do you/wife throw out stuff that's out of date or has been in there too long.
  12. i think all of this makes sense. i for one would happily pay for a license if they adopted all the clauses stated. something needs to change and soon. if this doesn't work then it won't matter as we will all be playing golf soon as there will be nothing left to collect fees for.
  13. its seems to be their whole range that has this problem. i had a shadow snap. seen a snapped syntra i for one won't buy another greys rod
  14. would think its some of the south west of england ports or south wales. sw scot has great summer fishing but is dire come the winter. mull area i would have voted for but its a shadow because of the long liners working the area too much.
  15. Ian, you would be better drafting a letter for people with an easy guide to where to send it. i would also ensure ALL of your customers get a special request to send one. + the sfsa membership( who are now conservation minded) the mullet club have done a similar thing for mullet where they sent a pre addressed envelope and a draft of what to include in the letter. radical but effective. dale ps mines done.

    Mullet

when our mullet don't feed there's nothing else to catch. don't knock a couple of bass Norm saves a blank session. ps if you don't want them send them north :¬)
  17. Varivas for me too. miles sharper than vikings. problem there....i've got hundreds of vikings!!!!!!!!!
  18. i think we agree on one thing Terence is a nice bloke and good at what he does. although the fishing was unbelievable crap i did manage to catch a couple of bronzies on my last trip even though it was really poor. so my advice is to go and take advice from the guides on the when and where. Not the uk agents. to the discount. that is meaningless if you no longer have a company to discount from. it was the same as handing me monopoly money. the fact a discount was offered should let the outside world know there was blame to be taken. as for going on the holiday i think your miles of the mark. if i started a poll on what people considered to be the most important factor on a fishing holiday i think you would find its ................... FISH!!!! people will put up with crap accomodation , crap food, crap flights and even crap company if the fishing is good. as for losing money. i can afford it hence 2 times in 18 months but what about the poor guy who saves up for years and years for this once in a lifetime chance only to find he has been seriously misled by the agent. no sympathy there...no.???? last thing on this matter is the FACT that steve sent me e mails telling me how good the fishing HAD been and currently WAS. i still have the e mails stored as proof. the only time we found out it had been POOR for weeks was the day we arrived. he delivered the bombshell and ran and hid for 2 weeks after that. if you think that is service then we differ. for anyone bothering to read these. guide.... Terence Clark. 100% accomodation...... Kallie & Bernd 100% food & drink ........100% Mola Mola uk .............. 0
  19. thinks the last person i heard of who decided that a reply wasn't allowed was called saddam. you obviously had a good trip but what you failed to tell was you were in an area that no other anglers have been allowed since. so cherry picking can happen to you to. i'm allowed to state my case. i wouldn't trust Steve as far as i could throw him. now what has happened here is that people can then choose with knowledge. they know all is not roses.
  20. Fishyrob for the record who dragged you in? no one in this thread? we are all entitled to our opinion and you have expressed yours very well. mine. i feel ripped off by Mola Mola UK. i didn't receive any money back just an utterly worthless offer of a huge discount. ps just out of interest. it was my idea to Steve he offer his clients a chance to postpone as the fishing was bad not his. if he had his way then you would have been there. the party directly after us had a terrible times as well.
  21. i read somewhere that a huge influx of immature fish after a lean spell usually happens just before a complete collapse of the stock.
  22. common eel and a ballan
