  1. Placing this here for a mate. He swears he has done all the right things but keeps getting this error message when trying to send mail. The host 'mail.tiscali.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'mail.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'mail.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D Can anyone throw any light on the problem Thanks in advance. Dave
  2. Can`t see them in thier catalogue. Just the usual bell mould, Adjusti Mould, and some others for pirks. Might call in there tommorrow and have a look. Dave
  3. First catch was a 6.5lb. Mullet on baited feathers. After catching a few Mackerel for bait for the following day I decided to fling the feathers back out baited as I was going to pack up soon and couldn`t be bothered to tackle up a float. The rod went hurtling round and from the top of the rocka I thought it was a Bass but turned out to be the Mullet. Second catch from the same mark but a different time and agian on feathers I had a great Sunfish, it was hooked in the mouth but I am sure it was more luck than judgement, hell can`t them things go when they turn side on to the tide. Thinking about it my best two fish have fallen to feathers, perhaps I should stop using bait. Dave
  4. Great stuff. Nice to see the concentration on the kids faces. Keep up the good work in teaching Dad how to catch fish. Dave
  5. Garth, does he keep any fish for the table? My wife bought me a Hot Smoker last year, brilliant.Cooks fish in 15/20 mins. Could maybe use it at the bankside or like me when I get the fish home. Just a thought. Dave Not so good if you are driving home after fishing though Ian. Dave
  6. Cheers Dave, no not the ferry home but I am sure it was going as fast. Could see the rowing boat from the corner of my eye and waited until he was framed in the pic. Dave
  7. After a days fly fishing at Rockbourne took this at Lymington Marina while waiting for the ferry home. Dave
  8. Hi Rodbuilder, when were you manager there at Rockbourne? how long ago? I was there this week end with a couple of mates. Yes the setting is great , 6 nice but small lakes, the ones at at either end were the clearest but still could not spot any fish for stalking purposes. I caught my limit and my mates got two fish each, thing is we did not see many fish on the move all day, there were a few head and tailing but I would have thought on a fishery that size you would hear a couple jumping somewhere. The fish that I caught, 2 were dull and been in a while and the other was quite bright, all around the 3lb. stamp. The owner is to my mind quite a miserable sxd, just my findings (and my mates), really seemed hard work to get any sense out of the man. Asked for 3 bacon rolls and it seemed to be a chore for him to oblige. (he did) Perhaps he was more intrested in the 6 guys having a champagne breakfast before fishing. Again asked if there was a chance of a cuppa in the afternoon and couldn`t even offer a reply. Not a place we shall be revisiting I am affraid. Are we the only ones to suffer his charms or did we catch him on a bad day. ?? Dave
  9. Just may take a while to get used to the new format. Dave

Snatcher, that is one reason I will not pay for a Sea Fishing Liscence. We want to conserve stocks then these longliners come along and rape the stocks once again. Dave
  11. Nothing from the Needles last week end only a few Whiting. Suppose to be a few early Cod from the Nab area though. Dave
  12. Will you pick us up from Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight Roy ?? Dave

  14. Really is nothing I can say. God Blees Alan R.I.P. Dave
  15. Delayed in replying to this thread as it is a bit to close to home at the moment. I would like think Alan will be strong and good humoured to the end. I shall remember him for his witty and sometimes very truthful posts. My feelings are with both Sonja and Alan. My Mother in law pased with cancer some four years ago, her daughter (my sister in law) has just finished her treatment for the same as her Mum, and I have just heard that my Aunt has been diagnosed as well. Life can be a real bitch sometimes. Back to my whiskey bottle. Dave
  16. Hi Nev, the FPO bought mine fro me for Christmas, it`s a Hardy (now who`s flash ) same as the ABU one though. Trouble is she cannot remember which site it came from. Where did you get yours ?? Are the chips the same as dust? I used a couple of table spoons in mine and it was just about right for me as I don`t like it too smokey. Just wanted to stock up to take it to Cornwall later this month and do some Fresh Mackerel. Dave
  17. Cheers Chris,I suppose a saw mill would be a lot cheaper in bulk rather than the small bags from Sportfish or Snowbee. Dave
  18. Anyone know the best place to get some dust for smoking fish Etc. Before we get any funnies I know fish take some lighting to be able to smoke them. Dave
  19. Wish I did not live on this Island sometimes. Or I would have bit your hand off for the trip, Dave
  20. A twelve foot three piece, the first two sections were cane and the top solid white glass. Messing about on the bank one day with no line on the rod false casting, amazing how far the top of a rod can go, never to be seen again. Dave
