  1. Whilst I would always uphold our "Good Old Fashioned British Values", it can let us down big time. Take the recent example of the elderly couple who died of hypothermia because British Gas cut off their supply due to one or two missed payments. My understanding is that they were too proud to ask for assistance, and British Gas told no-one of their situation, quoting the Data Protection Act as their reason. Had they been asylum seekers it's a good bet they would have been 'sorted' with countless types of benefits by some PC do-gooder who hasn't got the time of day for the elderly. Rant over, and out. 2. Haven't slept since this thread started, keep seeing "32 Ft for W to B" in front my eyes every time they close!! Please, please put us out of our misery.......................
  3. I believe water boils at 100 degrees Centigrade, which equals 212 degrees Fahrenheit. 32 degrees Fahreheit equals 0 degrees Centigrade, which is the temp at which water turns to ice. Still can't see how it fits in with our clue. Is that right Ferret, we have to wait 'til the weekend for the answer to this one???? Tel
  4. Dave, Sorry, I was falling asleep last night trying to think of that last one. Will await your answers with baited breath !! Cheers........Terry

  10. I too am an angler who returned to the sport last summer after a 20-odd year lay off. On visiting my local tackle shop (which was a hairdresser and a pet shop, back in my teenage angling days) I was amazed at the range and variety of baits available, so much so it took up around one third of the whole shop. That being said, I was at a local mixed fishery on Wednesday morning and managed to net half a dozen carp by midday (the biggest a 7 lb mirror, which I was more than pleased with!), by legering a single grain of sweetcorn, and flinging half a dozen grains out every half hour. 14. I designed and currently run a website for my local cricket club, and regularly back up my local copy of the site to a second PC. I have been using a piece of software called FastLynx, which transfers files via USB ports using a bridge cable. The transfer rate is very high (hundreds of Mbs in minutes). The cost of the software and the special bridge cable is probably comparable to buying a couple of network cards. Checkout http://www.sewelld.com Hope its of use............Terry
  15. Thanks for the info, and the links. Must admit, hadn't thought about drainpipes, but B&Q will get a visit soon. Thanks again..........Terry
  16. Hi guys, Anyone know where I can get hold of a carp rod tube. I mean the triangular profile type, over 6 ft long. I was recently given a new carp rod in a cloth bag, but my local tackle dealers don't seem to stock this type of tube. Thanks in advance...........Terry
  17. Hi Townlad, I got myself a new trolley during the summer. It was the Dragon Carp 'Pack Away' Pump Up Trolley, at £29.99 (plus p+p). See their advert in the weekly angling press. With a couple of bungees it's great for over land (although as ajp mentions, not so good for obstacles, etc). It folds flat and comes with a bag, which I think is actually just a large net bag. Cheers.........Terry
  18. Ant, Sorry, forgot to mention, MS Win2000 pro Sevice Pack 4 is about 129Mb, so unless you're on broadband you may find it difficult to get hold off. If so, let me know...........Terry
  19. Hi Ant, The latest service pack for MS2000 pro is Serv Pack 4. If you're a regular internet user, there are also some security patches you may need over and above SP4. Checkout www.microsoft.com click on downloads, drop down Windows 2000 and type in security as a search argument. This should take you to the relevant page. Some of the security patches are listed in Security Bulletin nos: 03-026, 03-039, 03-043 & 03-045. Hope this helps.....Terry

  22. Having taken up the art of angling again this summer after a 20-odd year lay-off (why did I ever stop??), I recently had the chance to feeder fish for bream, and was a little confused on how to use the line-clip on the reel for accurate distance casting. I understand that the feeder, etc is likely to land around the same spot each time, but what happens if a fish takes and decides to make a run for it? Surely there is no line spare if it is clipped up, or am I being naive here? Are there any other tips for accurate distance casting. Cheers....... terry PS. Been checking out the chat here for a few weeks now, and have learnt much already.
