  1. I would suggest that if the fish are wary try loosefed hemp with a tare nipped onto a size 12 hook on a ledger rig over the top of hemp. Don't be afraid to use 8lb line. Graham [ 14. June 2005, 10:49 PM: Message edited by: Graham Elliott ]
  2. Also now available Bob James 13/15ft float rod. Superb for the bigger fish / barbel and a 12ft Bob James BARBEL Specialist SU. Around 2lb t.c.. Ideal for Severn / Trent / Wye Thames snag or Floods. Both come with embroidered tube case and are top quality. RRP £250. Sale at £140.00 plus postage. Graham
  3. I would look towards somewhere like Manor Farm on the Warks Avon or one of the many River Severn campsites around. About 2 hours or less from Stanwell. Graham
  4. Brand New. Collectable, very rarely available. Simply superb. Normark /Masterline 12ft. Green blank that feels the best rod I have ever handled. Email me for pictures. Retails for £250.00 buy for £155.00 plus £9.00 postage.
  5. Hi. Shame about the loss Steve. If Braid has an Achilles heel it has to be that it is not ideal for very rocky or rough ground as abrasion resistance is not brilliant. The only losses(2)I have had over the past 2 seasons with line parting has been over swan mussel beds. I have had a good look at my rod rings, on quiver tips / daiwa rods and no sign at all of any damage. Graham
  6. Thats interesting severus. Do you mean the tip ring or the tip? First time I have heard of it. I have had it on my rods for over 2 years fishing around 4 times ( 40 hours)per week without mishap. Thats using a quivertip mainly. Are you refering to spinning/lure fishing, that might have the effect you mention if the casting style frequently leads to line twisted around the last tip section? Graham
  7. You are welcome Den. Steve, sorry wasn't trying to teach Granny etc....but a lot of anglers try braid and don't give it a fair run to appreciate the benefits. If anyone wants tips on first use don't hesitate to contact me. I will be taking some along to the Barbel Society Conference in Hinkley this weekend if anyone needs some. Rgds Graham
  8. I understand where Peter is coming from. Except how many people take their tent to the pitching site in a wheelbarrow? And don't tent people have suitable furniture as standard rather than Guest chairs, guest beds, guest radios etc. Graham
  9. Steve. The only advice I would give for your first usage is to set the clutch a little lighter than normal and if possible use a slightly softer rod as well. I have some 20/30/15lb in stock again now. Rgds Graham
  10. Steve. You must have got your order by now? Just to confirm. I will be without stock for about 1 week/10days. If anyone wants some reserved when it comes in please let me know. Rgds Graham
  11. Not often you get caught out Den. Steve, yours is posted. Thanks for the initial post. John B, 30lb coming - 20lb to follow. For info I am very short of stock at the moment my last 50 spools lasted 5 days! but expect my next allocation of 15/20/30 x 300yards in about 10 days. Elton. If I had a pound for every time you said...if I had a pound... My site www.anglingexperience.co.uk has a link to Anglersnet so I hope that many other anglers find this fantastic site through it also. Thanks Elton. Graham
  12. Colin. If you really want to catch a few fish including bream....there are lots down by Maidenhead Bridge. Coming from the Town centre park behind the Garage by the bridge. Walk over and fish the mini park bit. (walk of 20 yards or so) There are a few snags, so fish straight across about 1/3 way. Red maggot and worm or sweetcorn.Put in only about 1 lb groundbait if the weather doesn't warm up. I fancied it for some barbel but got breamed out with 10 fish in the 4-6lb range in about 2 hours, that was on meat. Covered in slime I gave up! Graham.
  13. Apologies, I don't doubt that. All respect regards the BDAA and their work. I was, probably very unclearly refering to the initial post subject FACT. Graham
  14. Wel the job advert said "Female pheremone sniffer wanted" Sonded good on paper.
  15. It depends who was involved in the Organisation and operation of it. There are certain "anglers" who only want to be involved when things are easy. Once the work side of the Organisation starts to begin they abandon ship and leave the mess for others to clear up. Present company not excepted of course. Graham
  16. Bambi now knew what her Mummy's warning words " Keep away from the ones with the horn" meant. [ 21. February 2005, 02:27 PM: Message edited by: Graham Elliott ]
  17. Hope you have great BA trip. That old Russel chap is a good fellow, despite the loss of hair. You will enjoy the BA. The good "shepherd" is in SLanka now, helping out and making sure all the company employyes are Ok. Liam always had a low boredom threshold Take care, chin up. XX Graham. [ 15. 19. Sorry forgot to mention a days fishing is the prize in the BFW Tsunami raffle as well. Graham [ 11. February 2005, 10:53 PM: Message edited by: Graham Elliott ]
  20. Just wanted to renew aquaintances with the best gal on the Block. Hope you are doing well Lyn despite all. Be nice to see you on the bank a bit. we had some laughs at the start of this site didn't we. Graham.
  21. Thanks Elton and also for your comments BoozleBear. We had a very special day today to launch the website as well. We can't of course guarantee that our customers will catch, just enjoy and hopefully learn a lot. But today I took a 57 year old customer out for a day on the Kennet. Conditions were good but it surpassed our expectations. His first fish after the hour was 11.3 and a new Kennet best by far for him. A hour later he had a fin perfect 14.1 bar of gold. A massive increase on his pb. The 'photo taken on an old camera as (this idiot left his digi at home) should be on the site in a couple of weeks. There is no greater joy than a first barbel for a novice , a first double or a new pb. Magic. Before the new season I will run a competition on Anglers Net here with a days barbel fishing as the prize. Good fishing to all Graham www.anglingexperience.co.uk Graham [ 11. 22. Dear Trenty, was it p's then? Surely d's when you travelled that long ago? Then again Grantham to the Berkshire Countryside and onward, a fair rise in property values I would guess and all free funded and appreciated. Graham
  23. Would anyone like to comment on the costs involved in the movements of the ACA Head Office location over the past few years? Is this information available on the balance sheets please? Graham ADDED. My Post on This SITE in April 04......I Guess I thought some things might pass........ "I thought about joining the ACA (although Associate through clubs I am a member of) And then I thought.................Well, when I see the Annual Financial Accounts, I might do. Has anyone seen these over the past few years, have any been published? if so, how much did the House (HQ?) moves cost the Charity." Graham [ 14.
