  1. quote mat newman I love catching fish, small fish, large fish, funny looking fish whatever fish. As long as my float goes under and I have a scrap then I am happy - this to me is fishing. I do not like what has already been mentioned where carp invade your swim - this is overstocking. I do not like easy fishing as this is boring and tiresome good commercial to me is one where there are plenty of fish (whatever species) and you have a decent chance of catching a few. Forgive me, but with the above statements you seem to be contradicting yourselve one minute it's hard fishing you like, then you like to catch plenty, then you don't like easy fishing, Carp puddle's are nothing more than over stock hole's in the ground that allow a person to catch fish full stop. There seem's to be very little skill or decision on what bait or set up to use,the term "Baggin up" used to decribe hauling 100's of pounds on a commercial . if thats fishing i eat my hat. Most kid's today would'nt know how to fish a river or canal, they have not the patience to sit that long waiting for fish to come in to a swim. All they are taught is commercial, commercial,if they are'nt catching they get bored Would love to know the mortality rate for these night light fisheries come 12 months time. The stress these fish will endure being caught day time and nightime. RANT OVER
  2. See the south west got it's usual treatment/quota of EA stocking.trout and salmon thats all they think about down here.they really are utter s*** down here
  3. "Starting next month a team of Agency officers will try to identify sources of pollution that are causing water quality to deteriorate in the Clyst. Using special sampling and monitoring equipment they will try to pinpoint pollution ‘hot-spots’ throughout the catchment." And theres me thinking thats what we pay our taxes and fishing licences for :angry:sorry but the EA down here in Devon are as much use as a chocolate teapot. If it's not salmon and trout they really can't be arsed, can't remember the last time i got asked for my EA licence.w*****s
  4. Here Here Tony U. I thought the EA could confiscate your tackle as well. Would been better to do that as well to make sure he could'nt go fishing, and only give it back when he provided proof that he has brought a licence. The majority of anglers buy one,so should he and other dodgers
  5. Hi FT Yes i would choose Chris Yates over BJ as well, BJ is a great fisherman no doubt. But Chris embodies the true meaning and feeling of fishing as it should be enjoyed for it's pleasure, BJ seems to have gone too commercial since the "passion for angling"thing became big and since they had a big fall out they have each gone there own ways. Don't think Chris is a single dad, i seem to remember on the "passing for angling"dvd i have he has a wife unless she has passed away or they have seperated. Unfortunately fishing has gone the way of many things these days....it's all about celebrity and money
  6. Hi Guys Have just brought a Wilderness Pro Logic suit.Any ideas how to keep it waterproof. ie what products to use, no info came with the suit and i have emailed Pro Logic but as yet no reply.any one got the same suit if so what do you use for waterproofing.cheers
  7. Hi all Have brought a Korum Accessory Chair, would like to find a bag to keep it dry and cleanish any body got any ideas or has brought a bag that fits it.been told that the Shakespeare Crypy Bag is too small for the Korum Chair.help please
  8. Allanm i had the same problem as you with the shad spinning as you retrieved it, so i came up with what i thought was a good little idea.i went out a brought some cheap spinners "various sizes" cut the trbles off and put on a split ring then clipped it on to the hook eye. gives a bit of weight and vibration as the spinner blade spins.the bigger the shad the bigger the spinner and vice versa, worked well for me
  9. BOB in most case's if someone is mis-represented in print, they often print a retraction the next week the fact bob nudd has failed to do soin the NOTW is a bit puzzling would you not agree. if such a angling "great" can not figure that would be the correct thing to do he deserve's all the flack he's getting. as for what he actually said.... all it's taken is two word's... pike and cull and the rest is history! what would your reaction be if some one from another branch of angling came out and said that keepnets should be banned?
  10. i know you can not have another angler fish your swim in a match! my question, as you well know. was not about match fishing.nice try so i will try again on the important question.. do you condemn what bob nudd has said.
  11. If it is true what bob nudd has said do you condemn it..as he is one of the leading match angler's in the country. And it was bob nudd who has blown it out of all proportion for losing a few fish from one swim and surely we predator angler's have the right to air our condemnation of his comments.also.it's the perspective is what separates match anglers and pike anglers.if you had a pike in your swim and were losing fish to it and a near by pike angler came past would you ask him to try and catch and remove it....or would you say nothing!
  12. My most sincere apologies mr gozzer. i have re-read the threads.and mis-read your answer and thought you were a current match angler. will delete the offending thread. a case of the red mist descending as you may guess i am a staunch believer in letting nature do it's thing we humans are all to ready and eager to interfere, and all to many times as history tells us we make a big hash of it your's Dave Smith
  13. Was it not a "knee jerk" comment that started this debate/argument off in the first place! The conflict will never stop until the match fraternity realize's that having pike in any given water is essential for having a good head of silver fish. And to stop trying to have there own way all of the time!!
  14. I think you're missing the point! he may not killed any pike? it's the asking/suggesting a pike cull. if bob nudd is losing fish to pike and he is angry or upsett, may i suggest that he stick's to what he seems to know best. fishing overstocked holes in the ground!!!!
  15. Budgie , I disagree mate, nowhere does Bob endorse throwing Pike up the bank, killing Pike or encouraging others to do so.....frankly I would have been very surprised if he had! I take your point about moving fish about without a full and proper knowledge of what one is doing though. heres a quote from the article Mr Bradford There are too many pike in our rivers and they need culling," Nudd says. "At a time when sport on so many of our rivers is starting to return big time, the last thing we need is shoals of pike depleting the stocks. "Some will disagree, but it makes sense to thin them out." Don't know about you but to me to cull something is to kill it, see what the word cull means in a dictionary Oh... and bob(nudd) pike don't shoal, they congregate when then are about to mate!
  16. why introduce in the first place..ah yes to give the rich a few more quid in there pocket
  17. yeah and who started charging us for first of all...... the tories
  18. lol i am a rarity where i live and my surname is....
  19. Yyyeeesss, about time.and a £2000 fine to boot i believe for any premise's that break the ban, the lawyers are gonna have a field day with this one
  20. what has the number of my post got to with this debate?are you scared of telling every one what political affiliation you follow!(as if one really doe's not know)your views are based on nothing more than dislike of any labour government fullstop.what is it missing the 15% interest rate's are we.saving's not doing too well never mind.still you are getting the £200 winter fuel allowance £200 of the council tax this year. free eye test's etc.still with 27 years in local governmenti expect you had a good run on the expense's and no doubt had a few portfolio's so a few more quid there, trouble is some people do not when they are well off do they!!
  21. dear argyll. you do seem to have it in for this government.is it something about GOVERNMENTS,would love to hear your thought's on the 18 years of conservative govenrment 27 years in local government....mmmmm red or blue? then we could all see in what context to take your comment's on THIS government
  22. i read today that the c.a. do not want their supporters to sasy any thing a biur fox hunting whilst they voice their support for the torie's in case they scare off voter's.because the lastest polls show the lack of support for fox hunting.interesting to see that the torie's will give more parliamentary time.strange that considering all the fuss the c.a and the torie's kicked up about that.words "cake and eat it" come to mind
  23. would'nt the FACT be if all those silly sod's who paid sub's to the C.A for "entirely for political reason's"were willing to give it to a organisation like FACT. angling might be in a better postion.FACT is. the C.A was/is set up as a one issue agenda.and is simply paying lip service to angling in general
  24. as regard the thames pollution could not the the A.C.A start banging on the E.A.'s door. instead of making threat's it clearly can not follow up? surely this is the E.A's remitt.me thinks that people in the thames water area might be in for a big water bill increase to pay for the upgrade of the sewer system, which under E.U directive's should not be discharging raw sewage in to river's.would thought that the E.A would've been jumping on thame's back over this,as they have been vocal over the clean up of the coastline of devon and cornwall, which is know complete but SW water now want's to increase our water bills by 45% over then next 5 year's. seem's to me that the ACAhas lost it's direction after the jame's fiasco!
