  1. Apologies for this novice question. I've just bought a bait needle to use with Rag as I'm not great at threading them on the hook. Problem is I can't quite work out how to use it? Any hints? I'm expecting it to be stupidly easy
  2. Found the marks OK - some really cracking looking ones - and a bit of a climb down with the gear! Unfortunately I didn't catch a thing I'd picked up a few boxes of rag in Dunbar on my way through but I made a schoolboy error and didn't check them in the shop. I set up my 2 rods opened the rag and discovered that they were all dead and badly decomposed! Useless! A bit disappointing really as it kind of ruined my plans! I fished for a good few hours anyway - trying every lure etc. in my collection but I didn't even get a take! It's somewhere I will definitely try again though. Thanks for your help in finding the marks mate
  3. This is only my opinion and others may disagree but you could do worse than something like a Toby or a Wedge for spinning. Up here a good method seems to be a rubber eel spun behind a controller float. As I say these methods work for me but this isn't the best area for Bass as they are all quite small. Others in better locations may have better ideas. HTH
  4. Nice one mate. Cheers for that. Looking forward to getting out
  5. Folks, I've the day off work tomorrow and was considering a wee trip out to Eyemouth - probably just fishing with spinning gear and rag on the float. Been told it's a good venue for Pollack and wrasse. Problem is that I've never been there never mind fished from the shore! Don't suppose anyone has any tips for a decent mark? I know I'm asking a lot here but I'm clueless with regards to that area Any help would be fantastic! Cheers as always North [ 22. June 2005, 02:57 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  6. Codling showing at Granton Harbour - got a few yesterday on Rag. I'd imagine you'll get them from the shore at Eyemouth no problem mate. Mackerel are starting to show from the shore. None at Granton yesterday but they're starting to turn up at Cockenzie. You should get them at Eyemouth. HTH [ 19. June 2005, 12:50 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  7. I know what you mean mate! Thankfully the one on Dalry Road is still bearable
  8. Just got a flier through my door from Lidl. They're having an angling weekend sale starting Friday 24th if anyone is interested.
  9. Don't know you from Adam mate but.....you Ba****d I sat and suffered Scotland v Belarus
  10. A few good reel deals here: snowlines.co.uk/acatalog/Snowli...IERS-REELS.html
  11. Well done mate Maybe get out for a bash at them myself this weekend. Keep it up!
  12. Just got this flyer through my door and they claim to be the cheapest Abu reels in the UK (I've not checked their prices)! Thought I'd post it anyway for those who didn't get the flyer. Ambassadeur 6501 C3 (left hand) £59.99 Ambassadeur 5501 C3 (left hand) £59.99 Ambassadeur 7001 Big Game (left hand) £89.99 Ambassadeur 6500 C3 IAR £59.99 Ambassadeur 6500 CT Sports Mag (no level wind)£84.99 Ambassadeur 6500 CT Mag Elite (no level wind)£84.99 Ambassadeur 7000 £89.99 Apparently their Fireline is buy 1 get 1 free but if you buy multiplier and fireline you get a free neoprene reel case. Tempted myself but obviously if anyone can show me a better deal :-) Their web site is www.fenwickfishing.co.uk
  13. Never used them (yet). Should they be avoided?
  14. Can also produce a few decent wrasse on rag worm. I'd be interested in a meet up around the Forth if we can get something sorted.
  15. Cheers Ian, More then happy to help out. The email will be written and sent tomorrow when I've had a bit of time to write a decent one
  16. Millar mate, if you find anywhere between Edinburgh and Dunbar which yields more than a couple of lug I'd be delighted to know about it Good luck down this coast mate. The fishing round here can be hard work but with a bit of effort... What about an AN meet on this coast later this year?
  17. I'd love to be in a position to shout loud and proud about bait digging round here but the situation really is pretty dire! I've knocked my pan in and the only place I ever got a reasonable amount of lug is *******
  18. I'm afraid I'll have to agree with Shaun mate. I've tried digging in a few spots. I've got some lug but it's been bl**dy hard work (much like the fishing on the Forth most of the time). I just buy mine now for each trip. Welcome to the board and good luck...
  19. Good news Ian. I have been wondering recently where the issue of recreational sea angling stood in Scotland. If and when you get a reply please let us know what the rest of us scottish RSA's can do to help the process move forward.
  20. Sounds like it may have been a Turbot mate.
  21. I'm another multiplier user but only have 2 reels at the minute - an Abu 6500 C3 and a Daiwa 6HM. I also do a fair bit of shore fishing with a carp set up and a cheapo Daiwa Regal X - great reel for the money provided it's cleaned after every trip. Thinking about getting either a penn or a slosh for this summer but not got round to it yet. In fact - not got round to getting out fishing yet and probably won't for at least another month
  22. I saw a tide clock for sale on the web and was considering getting one. I would love to be able to plan my trips without having to log onto the web to view tide tables. The link is here: http://www.extremewest.co.uk Has anyone got one of these or have any experience with them? I guess the simple question is are they accurate and worth looking into? Cheers 101
  23. Had some good Wrasse off Granton Breakwater last year including a few 3lb fish. All caught on rag. The Dollies side of Torness can also fish well for Wrasse. Float fished rag by the heli-pad produced some good fish for me last summer. I'd imagine that if you get them over this side you should have no problem in Fife. Good luck
  24. I still think that this post by Manxman is my favourite. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...ic;f=2;t=003018 I remember seeing this in the paper the next day too
