  1. I remember a few years ago where a 'respected' pike angler advocated fishing for coarse fish with fly during the close season for coarse fish. He said it was fun, legal and set to become very popular with coarse anglers. I, and others, wrote to the editor of the magazine to complain about the article but he did not even have the decency to reply. Have never bought 'Coarsefisherman' since. [ 30. 2. PW's post. Does it REALLY matter? I'm sure many are p'ng themselves at this latest allegation [ 29. November 2004, 08:39 AM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  3. From experience, and very hard learned, never be surprised at what anyone says or does in situations like this.
  4. The suspesion bit is true, but... not much information HERE
  5. Almost all of what is known as "Brown Goods" is hardly worth considering a repair. VCR's used to cost upwards of £600, now they can hardly be given away, same with CD/DVD equipment. Anyone want to buy some cheap laser assemblies ? Some cost me over £40-00 And to think I used to long for a Hardy Matchmaker. Now a £20-00 rod would be better. [ 26. 6. I still use an old Shakespeare International Match.(Reel) Except for a bit of chipped enamel its as good as they day I bought it. Can't understand why people still want to use rods made out of wood though. A mate of mine had one of the Efgeeco canvas box seats, and their 'roll up' for his rods. Really thought he was the dogs b's
  7. Shocked? Not really. Couldn't disagree with much of that either. One just has to listen to the last out pouring from Prince Charles. I always believe that what is said in 'private' is far more truthful than any public statement might ever be.
  8. 'Published Facts' The problem is Elton, there has not been any fact's published, except that Bob and Jane James were suspended. The length of time the 'Inquiry' is taking is both worrying and unprofessional. [ 23. November 2004, 07:28 AM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  9. Corydoras. No doubt you would still submit an adulterous wife to stoning.
  10. I agree with Mike. Have not seen the Times effort but it's probably the same as the Mail ran a few weeks back. Yet another ploy to get free info to pass on, for profit. If tha does owt for nowt...etc
  11. quote: In fact you could even apply it to anglers themselves Some anglers I know are definitely a health risk. I think the 'unfair' advantage is the most likely reason for the ban on some waters.
  12. The vast majority of the great British public look upon fish as something they eat. Every day of the week fish can be seen on the fishmongers stalls and in supermarkets. Even for babies this is an everyday sight and experience. Foxes on the other hand, are to this day, portrayed in kiddies books as lovable little creatures. I would suggest there is a world of difference as to how the vast majority of people view 'fishing' as opposed to fox hunting.
  13. Why should anglers support the C.A. just because some C.A. supporters fish? On that line of thinking, should anglers then give support to badger baiters, cock fighting or any other participant of a cruel and barbaric practice just because those people might also fish? [ 07. 14. Claims to covering the story for The Sunday Express
  15. Same here Peter, goes under the name of - Mole! Had three so far.
  16. Usually when the people next door get home from work. Our current postman does not appear to be able to read. Seems to be totally unconcerned when tackled about it. Prior to being made 'more efficient' the post was always here before 7-30am. "I positively support shorts" You a belt or braces man Elton? [ 05. November 2004, 03:12 PM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  17. I have today been made aware of the so called 'allegation's against Bob and Jane James. A 'conspiracy theory' is not too far from the truth. Having learned of the circumstances, I have written on behalf of my club members asking for an Emergency General Meeting of the Association, and from the information given to me I would urge all individual and member clubs, groups, syndicates and associations that are members of the A.C.A. also to request an E.G.M.. Failure to do so COULD result in the demise of the A.C.A. I also learned that both Bob and Jane are in poor health. Address any request for the E.G.M. to: Dr Stephen Marsh - Smith Chairman A.C.A. 6 Rainbow Street Leominster Herefordshire HR6 8DQ Copy letter: DR STEPHEN MARSH-SMITH CHAIRMAN A.C.A. 6 Rainbow Street Leominster Herefordshire HR6 8DQ Dear Dr Marsh - Smith, I have been requested to write to you as Chairman of Anglers Conservation Association to request that an E.G.M of the Association be held to discuss the suspension and bad treatment of both Bob James, and Jane James, the A.C.A. Director. DCAC receipt of membership: B 3288, dated 11th May 2004. Yours etc [ 10. December 2004, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  18. River Wear, Durham City A.C. Prebends stretch. A 22lb match catch included 4 roach for just over 10lb. The river regularly produces 2lb+ roach, but keep it a secret. Problem is unless anyone lives locally its a bit of a journey up the A1.
  19. Thank's Peter. That 'tight fisted Yorkshireman' was me. And I aint spent a penny on wieghts for years, or very much other tackle either for that. Chesters, I have a garage full of the stuff since my lad left home.
  20. Again Budgie, click on the SAA link below. If you cant find what you want there contact Mike Heylin, SAA Secretary. Peter, as a member of The Tenchfishers you should already receive copies of the SAA magazine, but all new individual memberships are more than welcome. Also, on 21st November, SAA is hosting a meeting for coarse, game and sea predator groups, both in membership and outside of SAA to discuss the issue of live baiting in all forms of angling. Again, contact Mike Heylin, SAA Secretary for further information. [ 01. November 2004, 02:22 PM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  21. However Pete, you can do no better than join the SAA whilst considering your options. SAA represent almost all of the major specialist angling groups and many individual specialst anglers'. For a yearly membership subscription of just £10-00 you can be represented at the highest level with as much or as little commitment as you wish to put in. Receive three issues a year of New Specialist Angler magazine and a Founder Member lapel badge. Again, click on the SAA link below. [ 31. October 2004, 08:16 PM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  22. Pete, Its not what you expect to get out of such groups, more like what you can put in. Thats why most of the smaller S.S.groups have some kind of entry acceptance. Have a look at the C.S.G.link at the bottom of this page [ 31. October 2004, 06:55 PM: Message edited by: wearyone ]
  23. The ACA can also claim for loss of amenity, as it successfully did for anglers on the Wear some years ago. Although very little of the received payments went into re stocking due to the NRA Regional fisheries policy at that time. I believe at the time it was a record payment achieved by the ACA. [ 06. 24. A few gallons of fuel and the cost of the ticket. Not much really if you want to have a say on the improvement of your rivers.
  25. Sorry Lyn, just the 'tight Yorkshire' bit of me coming through
