  1. Jesus said.....let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Which one of you lost your virginity at 28? ......em not many is my guess, more like 15. Sex requires two people.
  2. You guys are so right, let's give the poorest people less money, that will sort this country out. Who needs Europe? Who wants to walk through Zurich at midnight on a Saturday night in safety when we can walk through Birmingham and hope we escape with our lives?
  3. I just typed a huge reply then deleted it. I am not here to make enemies and I will ignore this thread.
  4. I know I am new here and have made my own blunders and my opinion is probably not sought, but I find this whole thread uncomfortable.
  5. Thanks Jeepster this has cheered me up. I think I may just try a 20 quid bottle from Oddbins with Xmas dinner.......forget the dying bit
  6. I take my hat off to all the committed drinkers here and I am impressed at the high standards of drinking, all I can add is that before I die I would love a bottle of the best claret, I mean 90 quid a bottle stuff.
  7. chesters1 I am impressed by your knowledge of a long forgetten subject. I can't remember much myself and I was actually there
  8. I don't use Zone Alarm but I think you will find somewhere in the options that you can allow trusted computers. You need to put in the address of your other computer. I am sure there are much more knowledgeable members here who can explain further because I don't really know what I'm talking about
  9. Chris I have been thinking about your problem. It is not logical that Dell supplied you with a dodgy copy of XP and I noticed that you said you have a new case. Now, I am assuming that someone has upgraded your computer and I suspect that at some stage during the upgrade process XP was re-installed. Re-installed with a non-kosher version is my guess. You paid Dell for a computer including XP and you are entitled to that product. I suggest you contact Dell and explain everything and see what they have to say. Of course I could be very wide of the mark with my assumptions but I hope this helps.
  10. Tyke: I'm sure you will love it. Shackleton's life was more interesting than any tale of fiction, if it WAS fiction you would never believe it. Chesters1: I was a stoker in the Royal Navy, I was in "the third and nastiest of the Cod Wars" -Mark Kurlansky. I was on the first frigate there and the last frigate there. The captain let me stand at the back of the bridge and watch the fun so long as I kept my mouth shut. The roughest seas you have ever seen...incredible, most people have no idea what hell a trawlerman's life must be.
  11. n4lly, I loved that Cod book, a surprisingly good read and the only book I have ever read about Britain's "Cod War" with Iceland, which I was personally involved in.
  12. Chris I feel your pain. Dell would not have given you a bad copy of XP so it is hard to understand why MS thinks you have a dodgy copy of XP. Basically you need to change your product key. There are programs out there that can do this for you. They can be found on hacker's sites. You could do a google search for "XP product key changer" or similar but be aware that these sites will bombard your computer with trojans etc. and a good clean up will be required afterwards. I know you don't want to hear this but perhaps your best bet would be to actually BUY a legit copy of XP. Bill Gates does contribute a hell of a lot of money to charity after all ......alternatively you could always contact Dell.
  13. Tyke, you could try Shackleton by Roland Huntford. His is a more interesting story than Scott's I think, an incredible man. I have read one or two books in my time and two of the best I can think of are Boswell's Life of Johnson and Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee by Dee Brown. If you fancy a novel then you could do a lot worse than A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving or Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.

I like to lurk sometimes, probably caused by fear of saying something stupid.
  15. First few I could think of, should be an interesting thread! http://www.ebay.co.uk/ https://www.paypal.com/ http://aok.heavengames.com/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ http://www.fisheries.co.uk/ http://www.samueljohnson.com/ http://www.multimap.com/ http://www.google.co.uk/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/ http://www.sendit.com/ http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/
  16. Get the best 106 diesel you can for 4500. Mind you, 3 blokes plus fishing tackle is pushing things a tad. My wife bought a Toyota Yaris diesel yesterday and is looking forward to 70 mpg. Oil bust the $50 a barrel barrier yesterday for the first time ever and soon fuel economy will be the most important factor when choosing a car (in my humble opinion)
  17. quote: Where's the fun in letting the dang dogs kill the animal? Ruin the pelt and in the case of animals that are good eating, ruin the meat. Seems like pretty much of a waste.Well Newt you have just summarised the whole anti fox hunting argument in one brief paragraph. I would add the words "of time" to your last sentence. Oscar Wilde summed up foxhunters and foxes nicely, "The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable."
  18. Newt, Thanks for your help yet again, you have sold me on NTFS and I do not fancy XP on FAT32 now. I can actually get my XP drive to boot so long as it does not involve Bootmagic7 which only likes FAT32. I need to either investigate Bootmagic8 or forget the whole idea and have XP on my laptop only for now. How you find time for all this help is beyond me but thanks anyway.
  19. The Thing....what a great movie, how about "open the pod doors Hal...I can't do that Dave" from 2001 Space Oddessy
  20. "i like arnold whatever the weather whatever the time of day he always gives a cheery wink ,yep arnold is my favourite fish" that gave me a little chuckle chesters1
  21. Income tax was first introduced in Great Britain in 1799 for incomes above £60 per annum. It was discontinued in 1815, only to be re-introduced in 1842 at the rate of 7d (2.91p) in the £. It was at its lowest at 2d (0.83p) in the £ in 1875, gradually climbing to 1s 3d (6.24p) by 1913. From April 1941 until 1946 the record peak of 10s (50p) in the £ was maintained to assist in the financing of World War II. The lowest income-taxed nations in the world include Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar where the rate regardless of income is nil. No tax ia levied on the Sarkese (inhabitants of Sark) in the Channel Isles or the inhabitants of Tristan da Cunha. The country with the most confiscatory taxation is Norway where in January 1974 the Labour Party and Socialist Alliance abolished the 80% limit. Some 2000 citizens were then listed in the Lignings Boka as paying more than 100% of their taxable income. The shipping magnate Hilmer Reksten (1898-1980) was assessed at 491%.
  22. He would go to jail here for sure, but then we always did like jailing drivers and letting criminals go free.
