  1. I think you'll find the peel is late as sea temperatures are down a bit on normal.
  2. I used the wash in stuff. Would say forget it, looks like spray on may be best.
  3. Not necessarily. Had a similar problem with a tog 24 top. I thought Titan was 3 layer, so it shouldn't happen. Tried Nikwax on mine and had no real joy.
  4. Is it actually getting through or just being absorbed by the outer layer?
  5. Then they do not know the way of Yakmen.
  6. This Sam is good news. A few people up here are talking of targeting Roker from the shore. The word is that they are doing okay further south. Seems like it. Good session, well done. Had my first bass this last week. Some showing to 7lb.
  7. Wouldn't go for a long long rod till you've tried one though. I think some time on the beaches wandering and talking will be worthwhile. If you're where I think you are there may be several rods to look at at Beccles or in Lowestoft.
  8. Saw a Grauvell RC 14 or 15 footer recently. Very light, and the owner raved about it. Under £100. Then caught a cod. Don't know what's is out there in this range.
  9. I eat a fair few herring, mainly caught by the beach launched inshore boats. They seem to have been reporting increasing numbers. That recipe looks good........
  10. % wise I don't know though it would be insignificant as they would all go (did go) when their feed went. My sandeel analogy is that I believe N Sea stocks are low in part to low food sources, not overfishing for human consumption in isolation as many on here would believe. Thing is Binatone, I'm an angler with significant support for the commercial fleet.
  11. When the herring were netted heavily and their numbers collapsed, the tunney then had nothing to follow. Not really to do with catching the tunney, more their feed. Bit like the sandeel situation I guess.
  12. We get the odd lone porpoise but I saw at least three together a fortnight ago.
  13. Whilst broadly supporting the aims of Greenpeace I'm not with them on this one. A little to purist for me. What by-catch is there when netting herring? And do they not shoal by size? Or perhaps they aren't sure of the facts.
  14. Yes, that sort of thing. 6 foot kids spinning rod, 4lb line. I think you'd find more sport with that than an 8oz whiting on a 4-8oz beachcaster. Catch one, and you'll see what I mean.
  15. I know a few beaches where they are, and they are big'uns. On ultralight tackle, probably worth a bash in their own right.
  16. Be interested to hear as I will be trying live sandeel from the shore this summer.
  17. What is so good about the Yo-Zuri Aile Magnet?
  18. Chap I knew did research for his PHd. One third was 'by-catch'. That means that half the weight of the fish that were kept was thrown back..........
  19. At the least I'd write to them and send a long sample of line. Worth a stamp.
  20. Been plenty of weed about. Also some good catches caught inside 100yds, these have been a bit patchy though. Might have to try this week. Always next time John. When you fish the river, try the flood and further round towards the lifeboat station or even up river from there, and dropping over the side can work.
  21. Not me John. Cod still being caught in some decent numbers. LUG LUG LUG.
  22. I know what you mean but I'm not off. If you want, just stick to doing the fishing bit, not all the stuff around it. Hitler got power when the other parties walked out in protest, he then legally voted through his dictatorship.
